Kia’s new Grand Vitara-rival has been spied testing multiple times in India and internationally. The new 2nd generation SUV will boast full design change, new powertrain, and new features which will help excel in sales and stay competitive. Here’s what we know of the SUV so far –
A key highlight is the vertically oriented, thunderbolt-style LED DRL signature flanking the rectangular LED headlamps. These headlamps include triple vertical LED elements, forming an extension of the DRL pattern. Between them sits a uniquely sculpted concave grille, and a centrally mounted radar – likely part of the ADAS suite—can be seen in the lower air dam.
Fog lamps appear to be removed altogether, aligning with Kia’s latest design seen on models like the Carens Clavis. At the rear, a sleek LED light bar spans across the boot, connecting the new tail-lamps, a styling move inspired by the EV5. The alloy wheels are expected to measure 18 inches, similar to the current GT Line and X-Line trims.
While the interior remains under wraps for now, several upgrades are anticipated. These may include a wide 30-inch Trinity Display, similar to what’s seen on the Kia Syros, a newly laid-out dashboard, refreshed seat upholstery, and a host of comfort-centric features.
Among expected additions are new dual screens for AC and infotainment controls, ventilated seats for both rows, sliding and reclining rear seats, and Kia’s latest 2-spoke Double D-Cut steering wheel.
The upcoming Seltos will likely carry forward the current engine choices:
Rumours suggest a hybrid version might be in the pipeline, based on the existing 1.5L NA petrol engine. This electrified variant could also serve future Kia models, including a new 3-row SUV. Transmission options are expected to remain unchanged, offering both manual and automatic gearboxes.
An official launch timeline hasn’t been disclosed, but the 2nd-gen Kia Seltos is likely to debut in late 2025 or early 2026. It may be offered alongside the current version, targeting a more premium segment with added tech and features.
Once launched, it will take on rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Tata Curvv.
The next-gen Kia Seltos is shaping up to be a comprehensive upgrade, featuring sharper looks, cutting-edge features, and the potential for hybrid tech—cementing its place in the competitive midsize SUV space.
