Hyundai and Tata aren’t ready for this SUV which will be coming with Hybrid System and AWD!

Kia is developing the next-generation Seltos, slated for a global launch in early 2026. Recent spy shots from South Korea reveal a mid-hybrid variant. The new Seltos is expected to offer petrol and hybrid powertrain options, with select variants featuring an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

Exterior

The upcoming Kia Seltos will feature a more rugged and upright front design, following Kia’s Opposites United philosophy. It is expected to get a redesigned grille inspired by the larger Kia Telluride. The headlamps will be vertically stacked LED units, giving the SUV a sharper appearance. At the rear, the Seltos will have sleeker, vertically oriented LED taillights, similar to Kia’s electric SUVs. Other updates may include new bumpers, fresh alloy wheels, and slight changes to its overall proportions, making it look a bit boxier.

Interior

The interiors were spotted with dual-tone theme similar to the one seen in Kia’s new SUV, Syros. The dashboard will be equipped with 30-inches Trinity Panoramic Displays, minimalistic and premium centre console, and improved material quality. The mid-variant was spotted with no seat ventilation for the rear seats like it’s offered on the Syros top trims.

Powertrain

Kia will continue offering the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L diesel engines in India. A new 1.6L hybrid powertrain will also be introduced, similar to the ones in the Hyundai Kona and Kia Niro. This self-charging hybrid system is expected to improve fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Additionally, Kia is reportedly working on an e-AWD hybrid system, which, if launched, would make the Seltos the first hybrid SUV in its segment with all-wheel drive, enhancing traction and performance in various conditions.

Price and Launch

Production of the next-generation Kia Seltos is set to begin in South Korea in August 2025, with a global debut expected in January 2026. The India launch is likely to take place in the first half of 2026 with pricing expected to between Rs. 11.50 – 21 Lakhs.
