Maruti Suzuki is all set to make a big splash in the electric SUV space with the eVitara, its first fully-electric offering. Slated for a market launch in September 2025, the eVitara has now been spotted completely undisguised, confirming its near-production readiness. These latest spy shots, captured outside Maruti’s Gurgaon facility, reveal its final design and confirm several earlier speculations.
The production-spec Maruti eVitara was seen in a gloss black finish, carrying the ‘eVitara’ badge at the rear. It features bold styling with connected LED tail lamps, polygonal wheel arches, muscular body cladding, and stylish aero alloy wheels. The sculpted side profile, upright stance, and signature C-pillar-mounted rear door handles enhance its visual appeal. A prominent rear spoiler, angular rear bumper, and aerodynamic proportions give it a clean yet aggressive look, suited for both Indian and international markets.
The eVitara is designed as a global product and will be manufactured in India at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. This facility will also cater to export demands in over 100 countries including Europe and Japan. A badge-engineered version of the same EV will also be produced for Toyota under the Urban Cruiser EV nameplate.
The electric SUV will come with two battery pack choices – a 48.8 kWh unit and a larger 61.1 kWh pack. These are based on LFP battery chemistry supplied by BYD. The larger battery is expected to offer a certified driving range of over 500 km per charge. While the India-spec version is likely to stick with a front-wheel-drive setup initially, global variants will be offered with an all-wheel-drive system. The AWD model will include drive modes like Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow.
DC fast charging will be standard, and it can recharge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in just around 50 minutes.
The Maruti Suzuki eVitara will be offered in three variants – Delta, Zeta, and Alpha – and is expected to come loaded with premium features. These include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, fixed glass sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and a Harman sound system. Safety features will consist of seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, all-wheel disc brakes, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Buyers will be able to choose from ten colour options, including monotone shades like Arctic White, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Land Breeze Green, Bluish Black, and Nexa Blue. Dual-tone combinations will also be available, such as Opulent Red with Bluish Black roof, Land Breeze Green with Bluish Black roof, and Splendid Silver with Bluish Black roof.
Maruti Suzuki’s original production plans have been impacted by global supply chain disruptions, particularly due to difficulties in sourcing rare earth materials essential for electric motors. As a result, the company has scaled back its initial target from 26,512 units to around 8,221 units between April and September 2025. However, a strong production ramp-up is planned between October 2025 and March 2026, targeting a total output of 67,000 units.
Despite the supply hurdles, Maruti has not delayed the eVitara’s market debut. The launch remains scheduled for September 2025, with bookings in India expected to commence closer to the official reveal. The vehicle will be sold exclusively through the Nexa dealership network and will go up against rivals such as the Tata Harrier EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra XUV.e9 and BE.6.
The eVitara marks a major step in Maruti Suzuki’s electric journey and promises to be a game-changer in India’s rapidly growing EV segment.
