Tata’s New Mini-Defender has finally launched in India with crazy tech and insane comfort and space!
Tata Motors has officially reintroduced the legendary Sierra nameplate in India. Priced from Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the new-gen Sierra enters the hot midsize SUV segment and rivals Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor, Victors and Tata’s own Curvv.
Exterior

The new Sierra blends modern styling with inspiration from the original model, especially with the recreated Alpine window theme. It features a bold stance, upright proportions, and looks noticeably wider and taller compared to most rivals, giving it a dominating road presence. Notable exterior elements include 17mm ultra-slim connected LED headlights, connected LED tail lamps, flush door handles, muscular skid plates, cornering fog lights and 19-inch alloy wheels. Six colour choices are available – Coorg Clouds, Pristine White, Pure Grey, Bengal Rouge, Munnar Mist and Andaman Adventure.
Interior & Features

The cabin of the new Sierra focuses on technology and premium feel. It becomes India’s first Compact SUV to offer a triple-screen dashboard layout. Lower variants will get a dual-screen setup. The interior is finished with soft-touch materials and a modern floating console.
Feature highlights include a digital instrument cluster, large infotainment display and a dedicated passenger-side screen, JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos soundbar, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, wireless charging, extendable sun visors and premium upholstery. The layout and space utilisation make the Sierra feel upmarket and contemporary.
Tata is expected to target a 5-star crash rating, and a live head-on collision demonstration between two Sierras was showcased at the launch event to reinforce its safety strength. The SUV includes 6 airbags as standard, ABS, EBD, traction control, 360-degree cameras, blind-spot monitoring, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic parking brake and rain-sensing wipers.
It also packs 22 Level-2 ADAS functions including Intelligent Speed Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Overspeed Alert, Emergency Assist and more. Safety continues to be one of Sierra’s strongest selling points.
Engine & Transmission Options
The new Tata Sierra comes with three engines – two petrol and one diesel.
- 1.5L Revotron NA Petrol – 104 bhp / 145 Nm – 6 Speed MT & 7 Speed DCT
- 1.5L Hyperion Turbo Petrol – 158 bhp / 255 Nm – 6 Speed AT

The new Tata Sierra brings together heritage styling, advanced tech features, a premium cabin, strong powertrain choices and top-tier safety. With the largest boot in its segment, tri-screen dashboard, modern design and AWD-ready platform, it promises to be a compelling new option in the midsize SUV space and a strong challenger to established competitors.
In the brand’s portfolio, the Sierra sits positioned above Curvv and below Harrier. Bookings start on 16 December 2025, while deliveries begin on 15 January 2026. It is offered in seven personas – Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+.
