New Creta Rival Spotted out in the wilds and this time it’s going Electric!

Kia’s popular midsize SUV, the Seltos, is going electric — and the latest spy shots give us our first solid hint. Caught testing under heavy camouflage, the rear profile reveals key EV-specific elements, confirming that an electric version is in the works. With updated design bits, possible tech-laden interiors, and battery specs likely borrowed from the Hyundai Creta EV, the Seltos EV is shaping up to be a strong contender in India’s fast-growing electric SUV market. Here’s everything we know so far.

Kia Seltos EV Spied – What’s Noticeable?

The spy shot reveals only the rear profile of the upcoming Seltos. Notably, there’s no visible exhaust pipe — instead, a shiny silver component, likely a battery pack, suggests this is an electric SUV. The rear also features updated tail-lamps, which are different from the current ICE version. While the side and front profiles remain hidden, it’s expected that the EV will sport a closed-off front grille, redesigned bumpers, and new alloy wheels, in line with Kia’s typical EV design language.

While the interior remains under wraps for now, several upgrades are over ICE derivative are expected to be carried forward for the EV. These may include a wide 30-inch Trinity Display, similar to what’s seen on the Kia Syros, a newly laid-out dashboard, refreshed seat upholstery, and a host of comfort-centric features. Among expected additions are ventilated seats for both rows, sliding and reclining rear seats, powered tailgate, and Kia’s latest 2-spoke Double D-Cut steering wheel.

Kia Seltos EV Spied – What about Battery Specs?

Battery Specifications is not known at the moment, but we expect it to be similar to the Hyundai’s Creta Electric which boasts 2 Battery Packs – 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh.

  • 42 kWh Battery Pack – 133 BHP, 255 NM Torque – 390 KM Range – 10-80% Charge in 39 Minutes on 100 kW DC Charger, 58 Minutes on 50 kW DC Charger
  • 51.4 kWh Battery Pack – 169 BHP, 255 NM Torque – 473 KM Range – 10-80% Charge in 39 Minutes on 100 kW DC Charger, 58 Minutes on 50 kW DC Charger

Kia Seltos EV Spied – What about Features?

The new Seltos is expected to offer new features over its current version in India like rear ventilated seats which isn’t limited to just thighs, rear wireless charger, All-Wheel-Drive (AWD), additional ADAS functions, powered tailgate and co-driver powered seats. As for the electric version, we expect Kia to offer heated front seats, and possibly improved safety equipments.

Kia Seltos EV Spied – When is it Launching?

Kia currently is in the testing phase of both the ICE, and EV derivative. Kia is aiming to launch the Seltos in India in multiple powertrains – Petrol, Diesel, Hybrid, and EV. The ICE derivative is expected to launch in early 2026 while it’s electric counterpart can be expected by the 2026 year end. Upon it’s launch, Kia Seltos EV will give competition to the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, and soon to be launching this year, the Maruti eVitara.
