Maruti Just Launched a New Car that comes with 6 Airbags as standard at just Rs. 4.23 Lakhs!

Maruti Suzuki has introduced a significant safety upgrade for the Alto K10, making six airbags a standard feature across all variants. This update follows a similar enhancement for the Celerio and Brezza. Along with improved safety, the Alto K10 has also undergone a revision in variant names, removing the previous (O) suffix. Prices now range from Rs. 4.23 lakh to Rs. 6.21 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Alto K10 Variant-Wise New Prices

With the safety upgrade, Maruti has implemented a price hike across different variants. The base Standard variant now costs Rs. 4.23 lakh, up by Rs. 14,000. The LXi variant sees a Rs. 6,000 increase, now priced at Rs. 5 lakh. The VXi variant gets costlier by Rs. 16,000, bringing its price to Rs. 5.31 lakh. The VXi+ is now available at Rs. 5.60 lakh after a Rs. 10,000 increase.

For AMT variants, the VXi AMT is now priced at Rs. 5.81 lakh, a Rs. 16,000 increase, while the VXi+ AMT costs Rs. 6.10 lakh, up by Rs. 10,000. The CNG variants have also seen a price revision, with the LXi CNG now priced at Rs. 5.90 lakh (Rs. 6,000 hike) and the VXi CNG at Rs. 6.21 lakh (Rs. 16,000 hike).

Enhanced Safety Features for Alto K10

In addition to six airbags, Maruti has equipped the Alto K10 with 3-point seat belts for rear passengers. The hatchback already comes with essential safety features such as an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), reverse parking sensors, and a collapsible steering column. Other standard safety additions include a rear door child lock, engine immobilizer, high-speed alert, seat belt reminder with buzzer, and a high-mounted stop lamp.

No Mechanical or Cosmetic Changes

Despite the safety upgrade, Maruti Suzuki has not made any changes to the engine or design of the Alto K10. It continues to be powered by a 998cc, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 65 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 89 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. It is available with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.

For CNG variants, the engine delivers 55 bhp at 5,300 rpm and 82.1 Nm at 3,400 rpm. However, the CNG version is available only with a 5-speed manual transmission, as there is no AMT option.

Potential NCAP Rating Improvement

Maruti Alto K10 has been a top-selling hatchback, with over 4.6 million units sold since its launch in 2000. In January 2025 alone, Maruti sold 11,352 units of the Alto, contributing 6.54% to the company’s total sales for the month.

With the latest safety enhancements, the Alto K10 may achieve a better score in NCAP crash tests. In 2023, the model received a 2-star rating for Adult Safety and 0-star for Child Safety, as it was equipped with only two airbags at the time. Now, with six airbags and additional safety features, it could perform better in future NCAP tests, aligning with evolving consumer preferences for safer vehicles in India.
