Aprilia has officially launched the all-new SR 175 scooter in India, priced from Rs. 1.26 lakh to Rs. 1.33 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the state. This new model replaces the SR 160 in the lineup and brings several upgrades in performance, features, and tech while retaining its aggressive and sporty character.
The highlight of the Aprilia SR 175 is its 174.7cc, air-cooled, 3-valve, single-cylinder engine, which delivers 12.92 bhp at 7,200rpm and 14.14Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. It comes mated to a responsive CVT automatic gearbox, promising better throttle response and improved acceleration over the outgoing SR 160, which produced 11.27 bhp and 13.44Nm.
The larger bore used in the SR 175’s motor contributes to the higher displacement, resulting in more performance for both city and occasional highway rides.
While the overall design remains similar to the SR 160, the new SR 175 gets fresh graphics and RS 457-inspired colour options. It’s available in Glossy Tech White and Matt Prismatic Dark, both featuring red-coloured alloy wheels that add to the scooter’s bold visual appeal.
The 14-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels are wrapped in wide tyres, offering better grip and stability across city roads, highways, and rough patches.
Other visual highlights include a carbon-fibre finish on the front fender, sharp front fascia, split seat design, sporty rearview mirrors, upswept exhaust, and a robust grab rail at the back.
The Aprilia SR 175 now features a 5.5-inch full-colour TFT display, replacing the older LCD unit. This screen is similar to the one found on the Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457 but with a simplified user interface tailored for daily commuting.
The display offers multiple layout options, customizable graphics, and adjustable backlighting. Riders can access detailed ride data, and thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, they can manage calls, navigation, and music via the Aprilia mobile app.
The scooter comes loaded with practical and safety-focused features such as:
The new Aprilia SR 175 sits above the SR 160 (which may continue till stocks last) and competes with sporty scooters like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Hero Xoom 160.
With its new engine, updated tech, and enhanced styling, the Aprilia SR 175 is designed to bring more excitement to urban commuting while offering the sporty DNA the brand is known for.
