Toyota Fortuner is in serious trouble as this carmaker has locked its sights on the segment leader and is coming after it with full force!

Hyundai is gearing up to launch its new flagship SUV in India by 2028, aimed directly at challenging the dominance of the Toyota Fortuner—the segment’s most popular and best-selling SUV. With its spacious cabin, high comfort levels, powerful performance, and an extensive feature list, the Hyundai Palisade is set to shake up the segment like never before. Here’s everything the Palisade will bring to the table when it arrives in India:

New Hyundai Palisade: Exterior

The new Hyundai Palisade has a much more premium and bold design than before. It combines a boxy SUV stance with smooth curves and generous chrome touches. The front features a tall grille with five horizontal slats and a large Hyundai logo above it. Vertical headlamps on each side have a unique slatted look, while the bumper gets a U-shaped brushed aluminum finish. The clamshell-style bonnet also has a rectangular-shaped indent, giving the front end a strong presence. On the side, it gets a large glass area, sharp lines, flared wheel arches, and 21-inch turbine-style alloy wheels. Silver highlights on the D-pillar and roof area, along with a slightly sloping roofline and upright tailgate, add to the SUV’s stylish profile. At the rear, the vertical tail-lamps have six light slats and a Range Rover-like rear design with bold Hyundai branding and chrome detailing.

Hyundai Palisade: Interior

Inside, the new Palisade looks more luxurious than ever. The cabin uses premium materials and a layered dashboard layout. There are two wide screens placed side-by-side for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The steering wheel has a wood finish and multiple controls, again giving a hint of Range Rover styling. Oval-shaped AC vents are placed at the corners, while the central ones sit above the climate control panel. The wide centre console has a dual-opening armrest, extra storage space, and a wireless charger. Interestingly, the console can also be lifted to create a middle seat in the front row, turning it into a 9-seater in some variants.

New Hyundai Palisade: Powertrain

The new Hyundai Palisade will come with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol hybrid which delivers a combined output of 329.4 bhp and 460 Nm of torque. Hyundai claims a maximum fuel efficiency of 14.1 kmpl, offering a total driving range of up to 1,015 km. The Palisade hybrid comes standard with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and a front-wheel drive setup. However, for those looking for more traction and capability, Hyundai also offers an optional all-wheel drive variant.

New Hyundai Palisade: Features

The new Hyundai Palisade when it launches in India will come with –

  • Dual 12.3-inch displays – Infotainment and Digital Driver’s Display
  • Front and second row heated and cooled seats along with massage function
  • Powered Front and Second Row Seats
  • Heads-up Display (HUD)
  • Dual Sunroof
  • Fingerprint Sensor which lets you start the SUV too.
  • ADAS
  • 360 Surround View Camera

Final Thoughts

The Hyundai Palisade is shaping up to be a true game-changer in the full-size SUV segment. With its bold design, luxurious and tech-loaded interior, strong hybrid powertrain, and segment-first features, it has everything needed to challenge established rivals like the Toyota Fortuner. Hyundai’s focus on comfort, performance, and innovation makes the Palisade a serious contender and a potential new favourite among premium SUV buyers in India. When it arrives in 2028, it won’t just enter the segment—it will aim to dominate it.
