The Mild-Hybrid technology offers several benefits, including improved fuel efficiency by seamlessly integrating electric power during acceleration. This leads to reduced emissions, promoting environmental sustainability.
The new variant will be powered by a 2.8 L Diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Similar to the South African model, this hybrid setup is expected to contribute an additional 15.7 BHP and 42 NM, resulting in a combined power output of 201 BHP and 500 NM of torque. The Petrol engine, however, is expected to remain unchanged.
Toyota has claimed a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency for the South African Fortuner, so a similar improvement can be expected for the Indian version. Additionally, Toyota may introduce a new Idle Start/Stop Feature for improved throttle response and smoother engine performance. Other anticipated features include a 360 Surround View Camera and the Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite.
