Porsche has launched today the third-generation of it’s flagship SUV in India, the Cayenne.Porsche Cayenne 2018 is introduced with a introductory price of Rs. 1.19 crore for the standard variant.While the Cayenne Turbo has a price tag of RS. 1.92 Crores, Porsche has also introduced a ‘E-Hybrid’ model of the SUV, which carries a sticker price of Rs. 1.58 crores. The bookings for the new Cayenne have begun earlier this year while Porsche has opened up the bookings for Cayenne Turbo in September 2018 only.
Coming to the spec sheet, Cayenne SUV grows in size as is is 63 mm longer, 45 mm wider and is 9 mm shorter than its previous generation.Bootspace of the luxury SUV is 770 litres while the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2895 mm.
New Porsche Cayenne gets loads of upgrades including a revised chassis,as it is based on the most capable and successful MLB platform which underpins luxury and high end SUV’s including Bentley Bentayga, Audi SQ7 and Lamborghini Urus.It also gets 48V electric setup ditching the old 24V system.Along with this, it gets a separated link design for the front axle and multi-link rear axle.
Porsche Cayenne now comes with LED Matrix Beam headlamps with the grille and air intake receiving slight upgrade in size.With a total of four modes, third-generation Cayenne has the capability to go off-road.Modes include Mud, Rock, Sand and Gravel.
In terms of cabin features, it sports Porsche’s new display and control system that uses a large 12.3-inch HD touchscreen setup which shares with Panamera including a 360-degree camera.The central console gets Full-HD 7-inch digital instrument cluster and central analogue tachometer.Safety features of the SUV includes adaptive cruise control system, lane changing assist, lane keeping assist with traffic sign recognition, traffic jam assist and park assist.
Coming to the powertrains, the standard Cayenne is powered by a 3.0-litre single turbo V6 which outputs 335 BHP and 450 NM of peak torque.0-100 mph for this variant is 6.2 seconds.The sports trim of third generation Cayenne comes with a smaller 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 unit with 0-100 mph in 5.2 seconds.This motor makes 433 BHP and 550 NM of maximum torque.The third-engine is the clean E-Hybrid Cayenne unit which is also powered by a 3.0-litre V6 with massive 700 NM of toque.0-100 kmph is done in flat 5 seconds.Last comes the Cayenne turbo variant, which is the most powerful of all the engines on offer for the Cayenne.Cayenne turbo is powered by a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 spec motor which packs 542 BHP and 770 NM of torque.0-100 kmph is achieved in just 4.1 seconds while it is capable to hit maximum speed of 286 kmph.
