2023 BMW iX1 Launched!

BMW has launched the iX1 xDrive30 electric SUV in India at Rs. 66.90 Lakh, and it’ll be sold in one single variant only. The electric SUV is the ICE counterpart that was the best selling SUV for BMW in FY 2022 – 23.

BMW iX1 Launched: What you need to know!

The BMW iX1 exterior is pretty much identical to its ICE counterpart, but there are still differences to notice like it has blue accents around the edges, side steps, and the grille. The exterior of iX1 features a big kidney grille with aggressive looking bumpers, and BMW’s Adaptive LED headlights. Moving to the side, it has flush door handles, blue accents at the side sills, thin wheel arches, plain body, and rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with adaptive suspension. At the rear, it features horizontally positioned L-shaped LED taillamps with blue accents at the edges, and that’s it. It has four monotone colour options – Grey, Silver, White, and Black.

Moving to the interiors,  it features 10.7-inch touchscreen curved displays with latest BMW iDrive software and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, BMW’s four-spoke steering wheel, two cupholders, and the interiors are finished in Aluminum “Mesheffect” with chrome highlight accents, and the boot space of the SUV is 490 Litres. The iX1 xDrive30 is equipped with a 66.5 kWh battery pack that puts out 308.71 BHP and 494 NM of torque giving you a claimed range of 438 KMs, and BMW claims it can accelerate from 0 – 100 KMPH in just 5.6 Seconds at a top speed of 180 KMPH.

In terms of features, its got 12 Speakers Harman Kardon Sound System, 6 Ambient lightings, panoramic sunroof, automatic tailgate operation, and parking assist. Safety features include 6 Airbags, TPMS, Traction Control, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and ADAS. BMW also added a feature that would play artificial sound to alert people of your presence, and this works only at 30 KMPH.

The iX1 can charge from 0 – 100% in 6.3 Hours using a 11 kW AC Charger where as it can charge from 10 – 80% in just 29 minutes through a 130 kW DC Fast Charger. The single variant iX1 being priced at Rs. 66.90 makes it the most affordable electric SUV in India other than the i4 Sedan, BMW iX, and luxurious i7. In India, it rivals the Volvo C40 Recharge, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Mercedes EQB, and Kia EV6. However, its possible the price can be lowered in the future if they decide to locally assemble the electric SUV.
