Hyundai Exter SUV launched in India!

Hyundai Motors India has finally launched the Exter SUV at Rs. 5.99 lakh making it the most affordable SUV that you can currently buy!

Hyundai launched the smallest and most affordable SUV for the Indian Market that comes in Petrol and CNG Fuel Options, and is available in five variants – EX, S, SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect.

Hyundai Exter – Exterior

From the outside, the Exter has flat bonnet with a big Hyundai logo on it and the three-tier design nose. It has H-shaped LED DRLs that are connected via a black strip and the headlamps are square shape that are halogen projector headlights. Then there is the body cladding finished in matte black all over the car to contribute towards the Exter’s looks. Moving to the side, you’ll realize the SUV has boxy shape. The doors seems to be big enough to accommodate easy in’s and out’s of the SUV.

The alloy wheels, roof rails, A and B-pillars has the dual-tone treatment, and the SUV is equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, it has an upright tailgate with the rear windshield slightly tilted, shark fin antenna at the top, small roof-spoiler, flat and tall rear bumper with dual-tone finished. The taillamps has an H-shaped in them with a big black panel and big 2D Hyundai logo at the center.

The Hyundai Exter comes with 6 single-tone colors – Atlas White, Titan Gray, Starry Night, Cosmic Blue, Fiery Red, and Ranger Khaki; and 3 Dual-tone colors – Atlas White Two-Tone, Cosmic Blue Two-Tone, and Ranger Khaki Two-Tone

Hyundai Exter – Interior

From the inside, the Hyundai Exter has an 8-inch infotainment system with two round dials on left and right of the system, and four buttons both the sides above the dials to control the infotainment system. The Exter comes with dual-tone dashboard theme option with round AC vents at the sides, and rectangular AC vents below the infotainment system. The Exter has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control below the AC vents, and single-pane sunroof on top. Moving to the rear, the seats are split in 60:40 ratio with the center passenger getting no headrest, rear AC vents, and it’ll have 6-speaker sound system.

The Hyundai Exter is powered by the 1.2-litre Kappa engine which is a naturally-aspirated petrol producing 81.8 bhp and 113.8 Nm of torque that is shared with other Hyundai models like the Grand i10 Nios, Venue, and Aura. This engine is mated to 5-speed Manual Gearbox with 19.4 kmpl fuel efficiency, and 19.2 kmpl fuel efficiency in the 5-speed Automatic Gearbox. In CNG, this engine produces 67.72 bhp and 95.2 Nm of torque, comes with 5-speed Manual only with 27.10 km/kg fuel efficiency.

All variants of Exter except for the base variant of ‘EX’ will come with Manual and Automatic Gearbox while the CNG fuel option will be available for the S and SX variants. Moreover, the three SX variants also get paddle shifters with the AMT Gearbox.

Hyundai Exter – Features

In Features, the Hyundai Exter comes with two first-in segment features – Dual-camera Dashcam, and single-pane sunroof. Other features include, automatic projector headlamps, keyless entry/exit, 8-inch infotainment system with Apple Carplay/Android Auto, in-built navigation, wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, connected car tech, voice-activated commands with multiple languages.

Safety features include standard six airbags, ESC, hill assist, VSM, ABS with EBD, reverse-parking camera with rear-parking sensors, three-point seatbelts and reminder for all seats, traction control, cruise control, and ISOFIX anchorages. Some of these features are standard for all variants, while other safety features are available from SX, SX (O), and SX (O) Connect variants.

The Hyundai Exter starts at Rs. 6 lakh for the entry-level ‘EX’ variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 10 lakh for the SX (O) Connect AMT. Hyundai Motors says it has so far received 11,000 bookings for the Exter out of which 38% bookings are for the AMT variants and 20% is for the CNG variants.

The Hyundai Exter SUV will directly compete with the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and Maruti Ignis. It could also compete with lower or mid variants of Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
