Toyota Fortuner Prices Hiked: What Happened?

Toyota Fortuner was never an SUV that had a pricing somewhere near its rivals. But with the latest Rs. 70,000 price hike, the Fortuner now costs more than Rs. 60 Lakhs. In India, the Toyota Fortuner primary rivals are the MG Gloster, and the Jeep Meridian, but those are still under the Rs. 50 Lakh Mark. Anyway, the Fortuner is sold in two variants – Standard and GR-S, and both are available with petrol and diesel option, and Manual and Automatic Gearbox.

However, only the diesel variants get the 4×4 transfer case with the manual and automatic gearbox options. The 4×2 variants prices are increased by Rs. 44,000, and the 4×4 variants prices are increased by Rs. 70,000. You may be wondering if it gets any additional features, or has it been updated mechanically, to answer that question, uh, no, it hasn’t been updated whatsoever way.

Usually, around the festive season, price hikes don’t happen, but Toyota isn’t a normal SUV. It doesn’t matter, people who love the Fortuner will continue to buy it no matter what happens. The Fortuner is available in 7-seater configuration with humongous space, outdated interiors, and Toyota’s reliability trust.

The Fortuner is offered with two engine options – 2.8 L 4 Cylinder Turbo Diesel engine producing 201.15 BHP and 420 NM of torque for IMT variants, and 500 NM for Automatic variants. The engine is paired to 6 Speed IMT and 6 Speed Automatic Gearbox with 8 KMPL fuel efficiency, and the 2.7 L 4 Cylinder Petrol engine generating 163.60 BHP and 245 NM of torque mated to 5 Speed Manual and 6 Speed Automatic Gearbox with 10 KMPL.
