The design language as you can see is tough and rough, very modern, and classic Jeep style. Moreover, it comes with insane amount of features and the performance compared to its rivals is very promising. We had the chance to review this luxurious SUV from Jeep and in this article, we aim to provide you with a comprehensive review of why the Grand Cherokee is a highly enjoyable SUV and could be worth driving,
The Jeep Grand Cherokee has evolved to meet contemporary standards while retaining its rugged SUV essence. With dimensions nearly five meters in length and close to two meters in width, it commands a formidable road presence. Its design strikes a balance between simplicity and assertiveness, exemplified by the dominant seven-slat grille and sleek LED headlamps.
The chunky 20-inch wheels complement the muscular stance, though some may yearn for a more distinctive alloy design. The rear features clean lines with a single chrome strip and LED tail-lamps, eschewing flashy elements for a more authentic expression of its character. While it may lack the extravagance sought by luxury car enthusiasts, the Grand Cherokee stays true to its roots with its understated yet commanding presence.

So we had the chance to take the Grand Cherokee for a long and adventurous drive. The Grand Cherokee is available in one variant and it comes with powered by a 2.0 L Petrol Engine producing 268.27 BHP and 400 NM of torque coupled with an 8 Speed Automatic Transmission that has been sourced from ZF. Contrary to expectations, the engine impresses with its smoothness and linear acceleration reminiscent of a diesel.
Although there’s a brief lag before the twin-scroll turbocharger kicks in, the mid-range performance is appreciable, offering effortless cruising. Overtaking manoeuvres are facilitated by the petrol engine’s responsive throttle. While the gearbox tends to upshift early, engaging Sport mode provides a more spirited driving experience, albeit with some initial lag. Despite pushing the engine beyond 4,000rpm resulting in some strain, the overall refinement is noteworthy, particularly considering its task of propelling a hefty SUV.
Additionally, we brake tested the humongous SUV at a 100 KMPH speed and guess what, since all wheels are equipped with high quality Disc brakes and it came to a halt almost instantly; the braking distance after hitting the brakes was commendable. Moving on to the steering wheel, it’s light, easy manoeuvrable and feels nice to touch. Even at high speed, you feel the weight yet it’s easy to move the SUV.
Moving to the suspension setup, the SUV comes fitted with a Multi-Link Independent (All Aluminum arms and knuckles) both front and rear axle as its ideal for navigating India’s rough roads and off-roading adventures. It handles bumps and potholes with ease, though there’s some vertical movement at high speeds. While it leans in corners and exhibit understeers, it’s Quadra-Trac 1 4-Wheel-Drive System and Selec-Terrain Modes make it adept at tackling challenging terrain. Whether on or of-road, the Grand Cherokee offers confidence and capability.
In the end, a main question arises, should you or should you not buy the Grand Cherokee. Well, the first thing is the SUV is very affordable compared to its rivals and plus its got way too many features and performance to offer for its price point. Secondly, this SUV offers very promising off-road experience which quite honestly its rivals doesn’t as those are mainly focused on giving luxurious experience. This SUV balances both of them and since its available in one variant only, and has almost all the features as its rivals, we say its pretty sensible to buy this SUV over the others.
