Kia had teased that they’ll be bringing their flagship electric SUV, EV9 to India for the consumers to buy and take full advantage of the luxurious it has on offer. They’re also expected to showcase the India-spec EV9 at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024 on February 1st. But before any of those things happen, here’s everything you need to know!
Kia had showcased the EV9 Concept at the Auto Expo 2023 in January 2023, and then few months later launched their flagship three-row SUV in South Korea, and other markets. Kia confirmed that its looking to expand the reach of EV9 to other international markets, and one of them confirmed to launch is India. The EV9 measures more than 5 Meters in Length, and is built on their Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

Kia claims the EV9 on a single charge can travel up to 541 KMs, and is offered in two variants. Globally, the Standard trim of EV9 comes with 76.1 kWh battery pack with a single motor powering the rear wheels producing 214.5 BHP and 350 NM of torque and sprints from 0 – 100 KMPH in 8.2 seconds at a 185 KMPH top speed. Then there is the long range trim with 99.8 kWh battery pack with two drive-type options – Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) with a single motor producing 201 BHP and 350 NM torque and does 0 – 100 KMPH in 9.4 Seconds; another option is the All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) with dual motor setup producing 380 BHP and 600 NM of torque and accelerates from 0 – 100 KMPH in 5.3 seconds at 200 KMPH top speed. In Features, the luxurious EV9 comes with Level 3 ADAS with 20+ Features; Thin-lens LED Projection Head Lamp, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, Digital Center Mirror, Digital Side Mirror, 14-speaker Meridian Premium Sound System, Drawer-style Expanding Console, Dual Sunroof, Hidden-type touch buttons for HVAC controls, Heads-up Display (HUD), 2nd Row Swivel Seats (6-Seater version only), 3-zone Climate Control, Dual 12.3-inch Displays – Infotainment and Digital Instrument Cluster, Power Tailgate, 1st & 2nd Row Heated & Ventilated Seats, 360 Surround View Camera, and so much more.While Kia is expected to showcase the EV9 at the BME 2024 on 1st February alongside New Carnival, the launch of the EV9 is still expected to take place near the end of this year with expected price to start from Rs. 85 Lakh. Since the EV9 will be the most expensive Kia model in India, upon its launch it’ll compete with the BMW iX which itself is priced at Rs. 1.21 Crore.
