With Kia officially going to fully reveal the Sonet Facelift on December 14th, which is exactly a week from today, and out of nowhere, the official brochure of the SUV has been leaked by a youtuber, and it confirms many things.
Kia Sonet Facelift: What you need to know!
This move comes as a surprise but we now know what features each trims will have thanks to the brochure leak from a youtuber, AdiZone. To ensure Tata Nexon loses its 1st position in sales, and steal its thunder, Kia is updating the Sonet SUV with new features and some revisions for lower-to-mid trims. Before the facelift, the outgoing version Sonet had big features like ventilated seats, front parking sensors, 10.25-inch infotainment system, and more.
In the facelift, it’ll get 4-way powered adjustable driver seat, traction control for automatic variants which will be on top of the drive modes, rear disc brakes for top trims making it the 2nd SUV after Mahindra XUV300 to get this feature, 360 Surround View Camera, and new 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The traction modes mentioned above are Sand, Mud, and Wet.
Moreover, Kia is bringing back the 6 Speed Manual Gearbox for the 1.5 L Diesel Engine, and Level 1 ADAS with 8 Features – Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Following Assist, Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Alert, Leading Vehicle Departure Alert, and Forward Collision Avoidance Assist.
The Sonet Facelift gets new colour option – Pewter Olive which is the same color offered first in the Seltos. In total now, it has 8 colors – Pewter Olive, Glacier White Pearl, Sparking Silver, Gravity Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, Intense Red, Imperial Blue, and Clear White.
Kia also retained the same trim names – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+ under Techline, GTX+ under GT Line, and X-Line. As for the wheel options, it has 4 options – 15-inch Steel Wheels, and three 16-inch alloy wheel designs. The alloy wheel design depending on the variants, and same for the seat upholstery.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Dimensions, Engine Options
The dimensions of the new SUV are the same – 3995 MM length, 1790 MM width, 1642 MM in height, 2500 MM wheelbase, fuel tank of 45 L, and the boot space however has been reduced from 392 L (Pre-Facelift) to 385 L, loss of valuable 7 Litres. The Sonet continues to have 3 Engine Options – 1.2 L NA Petrol – 81.8 BHP, 115 NM Torque, 5 Speed MT, available for the HTE, HTK, and HTK+ trims.
Then there is the 1.0 L Turbo Petrol – 118.35 BHP, 172 NM of torque, 6 Speed IMT and 7 Speed DCT Gearbox. The IMT Gearbox option is available with HTK+, HTX, and HTX+ while the DCT Gearbox is available with HTX, GTX+, and X-Line.
Lastly, it has the 1.5 L Diesel Engine – 114.41 BHP, 250 NM of torque, 6 Speed MT / IMT / AT. The Manual Gearbox is available with HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, IMT Gearbox with HTX, HTX+, and Automatic Gearbox with HTX, GTX+, and X-Line.
Kia is all set to unveil the Sonet Facelift on 14th December, 2023 with price announcement in January 2024.
