The Mercedes E-Class is considered a versatile Luxury Sedan, it is bigger than the Mercedes C-class but smaller than the Mercedes S-class making it a perfect option for customers who are in search of something a luxury sedan but not something flagship as the Mercedes S-class but close to it. The Mercedes E-Class competes with the BMW 5 series, Audi A6, Volvo S90, and other luxury sedans. Now, Mercedes has decided to launch the Mercedes E-Class with more advanced features like Level 4 ADAS and other AI features.
In terms of design, although the new generation has a whole new fascia it resembles the outgoing Mercedes E-Class with those sleek headlights but now it has a different headlight design, the DRLs are now on the upper as well as the lower part of the headlight which makes it aesthetically appealing. The design of the grille and the bumper has been changed, it is more luxurious rather than sporty. On the side, it gets a new set of alloy wheels which look sporty as compared with the outgoing model. At the rear, there is a slight change in the design of the taillights. The outgoing model gets a sleek taillight without any pattern whereas the 2024 Mercedes E-Class resembles the brand logo. The exhausts are hidden under the chrome garnish on the lower part of the bumper. The new 2024 Mercedes E-Class measures as follows: L-4949mm, W-1880mm, and H- 1468mm. If compared with the outgoing model, the new 2024 Mercedes E-Class is 22mm longer.
New Mercedes E-Class gets some exclusive features like driverless valet parking integrated into the Level 4 ADAS function. The level 4 ADAS function does not require any human interaction, meaning it is a fully autonomous vehicle, you do not need to control any pedals or the steering wheel. You also get the feature of unlocking/locking your vehicle through your iPhone or smartwatch. Moreover, in the interior, you get two options for a whole new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), one is the MBUX Multimedia Premium and the other is the MBUX Multimedia Premium Plus package, for MBUX Multimedia Premium Plus you will have to pay a couple of bucks more as it offers augmented reality. For basic vehicle information, you get a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and for entertainment purposes, you get a 14.4-inch, Tesla-type (portrait) infotainment system. And it is really meant for entertainment purposes, you can play games, attend online meetings through the Zoom application, and many more.
Now, Talking about the engine specifications, it gets a 2 engine option, petrol, and diesel the diesel engine is solely a 2.0L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 197hp of maximum power and 440nm of maximum torque. While the petrol engine is available with an electric motor from certain variants including 300e which will offer a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine mated with a plugin hybrid electric motor that will produce 313hp of maximum power and 550 nm of maximum torque. The only petrol variant that is 220 is available with the 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 204hp and 320nm of maximum torque. These all variants are only RWD variants, there is also an option for the AWD variant that is the 400e 4-Matic, which uses the same 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine that will be mated with a plugin hybrid motor that equals to the overall power out of 381hp and 650nm of maximum torque.
In India, the executive sedan is expected to be introduced next year only.
