MG Hector Diesel Sharp Pro: Exterior Design
MG Motors is taking design lessons from BMW as the Hector has a big chrome grille connecting with the thinner Dual-Function LED DRLs giving it a big road presence. Next to that is LED Projector Headlamps with fog lamps underneath them. The front bumper gets chrome finish, and the bonnet is almost flat with creases. The side profile is simple with creases, chrome on the window beltline, chrome on the door cladding, square-like wheel arches, functional silver colour roof rails, and diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels. Coming to the rear section, you can see the connected LED taillamps, fake exhaust surrounds on the hard plastic bumpers, rear spoiler with shark fin antenna on top, and single exhaust underneath the bumper on the left side.

MG Hector Diesel Sharp Pro: Interior Design
The MG Hector has a very clean look thanks to the elimination buttons from the dashboard and everything is now operated from the 14-inch vertically positioned infotainment system. It has huge AC vents in horizontal position and also a dual-tone theme dashboard option. The Hector has it’s classic looking three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with full digital instrument cluster behind, button for the engine start/stop is positioned on the left side near the infotainment system, and panoramic sunroof on top. The MG Hector measures 4.7 Meters in length, and for an SUV that looks so big, one would expect the comfort to be really good. The rear seats is split in 60:40 ratio and has the recline option to stretch your legs a bit more in case you feel a bit cramped.
Tons of space are on offer like two cupholders, door pockets, decent cooled glovebox, but more importantly, it has the biggest boot in the segment, 587 L. MG Hector Diesel Sharp Pro: Drive Review
So, we had the opportunity to drive the MG Hector Top Diesel Trim, Sharp Pro which is humongous in size. The Hector is powered by the 2.0 L 4 Cylinder Diesel Engine generating 167.67 BHP and 350 NM of torque paired to the 6 Speed Manual Gearbox only. The engine powers the front wheels offering 16.17 KMPL of fuel efficiency on a 60 L Fuel Tank. It’s worth noting that the cabin insulation was really good, it manages to keep road noises above 80 KMPH speed.
MG offers the Hector with 3 Drive Modes – Eco, Normal, and Sports. Regardless of any drive mode, MG has tried their best to keep the engine noise as low as possible, but honestly you don’t hear the engine noise much. Talking about the Brakes, the Hector is equipped with Disc Brakes for all Wheels. We Brake Tested the SUV at 60 KMPH and it came to an halt almost immediately. Moving on, the steering wheel of the SUV is lighter that making turns in the city is very easy as multiple turns shows up and with the lighter steering and it just becomes very helpful during those situations.
However, if you start to push the SUV above 80+ KMPH speed, you’ll start to feel the little vibrations and weight on the steering, so you’re better at driving efficiently rather than pushing the SUV to its limit. The upright nose gives the driver a better road visibility to drive safely on the roads.
MG Hector Diesel Sharp Pro: Ride and Handling
Now, talking about the suspension setup, the soft suspension for the SUV is really good as it handles the potholes and the speed bumps exceptionally well, keeping the occupants in the cabin stress free. Moreover, the Hector glides around the corners easily without any sort of stress or trouble. At the front, the SUV has McPherson Strut + Coil Springs setup while the rear is fitted with the Beam Assemble + Coil Springs.
MG Hector Diesel Sharp Pro: Verdict
So, in the end, the main question that arises is MG Hector Diesel Top trim worth buying over its rivals? While it misses out on some key features the top petrol trim gets, it’s still worth buying for its sheer size, space and comfort it has on offer. Moreover, it has crazy tech and features, and very premium looking interiors that makes you want to buy this SUV over its rivals. It’s also worth noting that the mileage is way better than most of its rivals in the segment.
