Yamaha as promised, launched the MT-03 for the Indian Market for the first time, and it’ll compete with the likes of KTM 390 Duke, and the upcoming naked version of the Aprilla RS 457.
The newly launched Yamaha MT-03 is priced at Rs 4.60 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) as it enters the Indian market as a CBU import from Indonesia, mirroring the approach taken with the concurrently launched R3. The MT-03 takes inspiration from the Yamaha MT-15, the MT-03 showcases a similar aggressive design philosophy, characterised by a muscular and enlarged body.

In terms of specifications, the MT-03 measures 2090 MM in length with a height of 1070 MM, and seat height of 780 MM making it sufficient for many short riders to ride this bike a bit easily. It has a 14 L fuel tank with a ground clearance of 160 MM which is good enough to not give you any troubles while going over the speed bumps or potholes. The MT-03 is powered by the 321cc, 4-stroke, Liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valves engine which produces 41.42 BHP and 29.5 NM of torque mated to the 6 Speed Gearbox.
The bike has a telescopic upside-down fork suspension at front, and swingarm at the rear. It rides on 110/70 17-inch wheels at front, and 140/70 17-inch wheels at the rear with both the wheels equipped with disc brakes, and it features dual-channel ABS. It has a LED Projector headlamps, and LED taillamps, and digital cluster with bluetooth connectivity.
In the market, the KTM Duke 390 emerges as the MT-03’s closest competitor in terms of competition. While there are currently no other twin-cylinder street naked bikes in this segment in India, the landscape may evolve in the future with the possibility of Aprilla developing a naked sibling to the recently launched RS 457.
