New-Gen 2024 Kia Carnival (Expected: H1 2024)
Kia India is launching the next generation Kia Carnival which basically is an facelift update in the Korean market, but in India it’ll be launched as an New Generation update. It’s almost like a home on wheels because of how much comfortable the seats are in this MPV. It has four rows with captain seats in second-row which are similar to Kia EV9. Kia offers the Carnival with a V6 Engine internationally, expect the 2.2 L Diesel Engine to be offered, while it’s possible Kia could replace the V6 Engine in India with the 2.0 L Turbo Petrol Engine.
The Carnival has features like dual 10.25-inch display, ventilated and heated seats, a single-pane sunroof, and a panoramic sunroof, 360 Surround View Camera, Level 2 ADAS, and so much more. The Carnival doesn’t have any direct rivals as it’s the only MPV in the segment, and it’ll continue to be the best-selling MPV in its own category. New Kia EV9 (Expected: Late 2024)
Kia had showcased the EV9 at the Auto Expo 2023 in January, and then few months later launched their flagship three-row SUV in South Korea, and other markets. Kia confirmed that its looking to expand the reach of EV9 to other international markets, and one of them confirmed to launch is India. The EV9 measures more than 5 Meters in Length, and is built on their Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). Kia claims the EV9 on a single charge can travel up to 541 KMs, and is offered in two variants.
The Standard trim comes with 76.1 kWh battery pack with a single motor powering the rear wheels producing 214.5 BHP and 350 NM of torque and sprints from 0 – 100 KMPH in 8.2 seconds at a 185 KMPH top speed. Then there is the long range trim with 99.8 kWh battery pack with two drive-type options – Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) which has a single motor producing 201 BHP and 350 NM torque and does 0 – 100 KMPH in 9.4 Seconds. Another Option is the All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) with dual motor setup generating 380 BHP and 600 NM of torque and accelerates from 0 – 100 KMPH in 5.3 seconds at 200 KMPH top speed.
The Kia EV9 was tested at the European NCAP (ENCAP) and scored 5 Star Safety Rating, Hence, when it launches in India, Kia would likely send the EV9 to the Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) and since the BNCAP and GNCAP (Global NCAP) are similar, the EV9 could scored 5 Star Safety Rating as well.
Kia Carens Facelift (Expected: Late 2024)
Kia once it’s done with the Carnival and Sonet Facelift launch in 2024 will shift its focus towards the Carens Facelift which is also expected to launch near the end of 2024. Recently, Kia launched the X-Line Edition which was exclusive to 6 Seater trim only, and it got a new Rear Seat Entertainment Unit, and two-tone Black and Sage Green theme for the interiors. Other than that, it got full matte black treatment for the exterior.
However, the facelift update, it’ll be getting new front and rear profile which would be Carnival-inspired while the interiors will most likely remain the same. However, it’ll be getting a new 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster same as Seltos, and new upholstery for the dashboard and the interiors. In Engine Options, it’ll retain the 1.5 L Turbo Petrol with 6 Speed IMT and 7 Speed DCT, and the 1.5 L Diesel Engine with 6 Speed MT / IMT / AT, and the 1.5 L Petrol Engine with 6 Speed MT only.
It’ll be getting new features like 360 Surround View Camera, Panoramic Sunroof, Powered Seats for Driver, powered tailgate, and most importantly, the Level 2 ADAS.
