BYD Qin L DM-i: Exterior
The BYD Qin L, part of BYD’s Dynasty range, showcases a distinctive dragon face design. Its prominent front fascia features a large grille and a striking chrome bar. Sleek headlamps with DRLs and a sculpted bonnet enhance its visual appeal. The sedan’s profile is further accentuated by traditional door handles, large sporty alloy wheels with low-profile tires, and a coupe-like design that adds to its allure.

At the rear, the Qin L is equipped with interconnected tail lamps inspired by Chinese knots, a traditional art form where a single cord is intricately woven into beautiful shapes symbolizing positive attributes such as friendliness, prosperity, good wishes, and happiness.
In terms of dimensions, the Qin L DM-i measures 4830 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, and 1495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2790 mm. These dimensions are identical to those of the Seal 06 DM-i. Both cars share the same suspension setup, featuring MacPherson suspension at the front and a new E-type four-link independent suspension at the rear.
BYD Qin L DM-i: Interior
The interior of the BYD Qin L DM-i draws inspiration from Chinese landscape paintings, incorporating Chinese knot elements to enhance its aesthetic appeal. The design focuses on minimizing clutter and maximizing spaciousness, creating a more open feel compared to the Seal 06. Key features include an 8.8-inch LCD instrument display and a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Other interior elements include rectangular AC vents with chrome surround, silver finish for the centre console with crystal like gear lever with pool of buttons surrounding like electric parking brake, etc; leatherette upholstery for the cabin, panoramic sunroof on top, and so on.
BYD Qin L DM-i: Engine Specs
Both the Qin L and Seal 06 utilize BYD’s latest 5th-generation DM technology, integrating the internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric motor for improved efficiency. An AI-based energy consumption management system further enhances fuel efficiency. The Qin L achieves a fuel consumption of 2.9 l/100 km (35 km/l) in NEDC mode and 10.7 kWh/100 km in CLTC mode.
The PHEV powertrain features a 1.5-litre engine delivering 98.69 BHP and 126 NM of torque. Lower-spec variants combine the ICE engine with a 10.08 kWh battery pack, powering a 160 BHP electric motor with 210 NM of torque, and offering an all-electric range of 80 km (CLTC).
Higher-spec variants are equipped with a 15.874 kWh battery, extending the all-electric range to 120 km (CLTC). These variants also feature a more powerful 214 BHP EHS160 motor with 260 NM of torque. The total range for the BYD Qin L DM-i can reach up to 2100 km (CLTC). These specifications are identical for the BYD Seal 06 DM-i.
BYD Qin L DM-i: Features
The Qin L DM-i also boasts features such as automatic air conditioning, a mobile phone NFC key, ETC, six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and at least six speakers. Higher-spec variants come with additional features including the DiPilot L2 driving assistance system, a panoramic sunroof, a dashcam, an electrically adjustable front passenger seat, heated and ventilated seats, 18-inch wheels, and an eight-speaker sound system.
BYD Qin L DM-i: India Launch
Currently, BYD has no plans to launch this sedan in India as they’re focused on introducing EVs like the Dolphin-based electric SUVs for India. So, if you’re expecting an hybrid sedan like this to launch in India, you’ll be waiting for a long time.
