The Swift is a very important car for the Maruti Suzuki due to its strong value in the Indian Market. In November, the Swift was the third best-selling car despite other models like Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara, etc. Suzuki had showcased the new generation Swift at the Tokyo Motor Show last month and it had big upgrades over the current version on sale. So, in this article, we’ve gathered 5 points that we’ll list down for you to know everything about the new Swift.
The new Swift looks similar to the current version on sale, but as you can tell, now it has round grille with x-pattern, chrome around the grille, new headlamps unit with L-Shaped LED DRLs, and a new clamshell bonnet to give Swift-lovers, Mini Cooper vibes. Moving to the side, the first thing you notice is that C-Pillar Door Handles are moved back to its conventional place, new alloy wheel design for the 16-inch wheels, and HYBRID badging on the fender. Moving to the rear, it gets dual-tone bumper, revised LED Taillamps with C-Shaped LED Element inside which helps give the hatchback sort of a mean sportier look.
Jumping inside the cabin, the design very similar to recent Maruti models like Brezza, Grand Vitara, Baleno, Fronx, etc. However, the Swift features a free-standing 9-inch infotainment system, tri-tone dashboard theme – black, gloss black, and white hues, new panel for the climate control, and the 4-spoke, flat-bottom Steering Wheel. It continues to get Fabric Seat Upholstery, USB-C and USB-A Port below the climate control for charging, and the rear seats are 60:40 split.
The Suzuki Swift seen at Tokyo Motor Show 2023 was equipped with a new Z-Series Engine. This engine is the 1.2 L 3 Cylinder Naturally-Aspirated Petrol Engine with a 12V Battery enabling Mild-Hybrid with this engine mated to an CVT Gearbox with choice of 2-Wheel-Drive (2WD), or All-Wheel-Drive (AWD), and this engine in return gives 24.5 KMPL fuel efficiency, while only Petrol engine returns mileage of 23.4 KMPL.
In Features, the Swift is equipped with 9-inch Infotainment System with Wireless Apple Carplay / Android Auto, Cruise Control, Automatic Climate Control, Wireless Charging Pad, LED headlamps, and more. In Safety, the new Swift has 360 Surround View Camera, Rear Parking Sensors, ABS with EBD, Hill Assist, and so much more. At Tokyo Motor Show, the Swift was equipped with Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold, and Level 2 ADAS. The test mules spotted in India had ADAS so it remains to be seen if Maruti is planning to offer this feature or not.
The current Maruti Swift is priced at Rs. 5.99 – Rs. 9.03 Lakh and since Maruti has already announced that a price hike is coming to all cars in its line-up in January 2024, we expect when the new Swift launches in India, it starts from Rs. 6.50 Lakh. The new Swift upon its launch will compete with Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, and Tata Tiago. It could also end up challenging the Hyundai Exter, and Tata Punch for the amount of features it has on offer.
