Maruti Suzuki was seen testing the new Swift in India. The new Swift gets redesigned front grille and bumper design while retaining headlamps and tail lamps shape but looks a bit sharper compared to the outgoing version. Even though Suzuki calls it 4th Gen, the Swift is basically an heavily updated hatchback with slight growth in dimensions like its 15 MM longer, 40 MM narrower, and 30 MM taller. The wheelbase remains unchanged, 2450 MM.The interiors resemble the Fronx, Baleno like the switchgear, HVAC controls, floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, analog instrument cluster, steering wheel, etc. The Swift showcased at TMS was fitted with ADAS, but to keep the cost down, it’s likely the Indian-spec model won’t be fitted with ADAS. The alloy wheels seen on the new Swift was all blacked out and could’ve been the 16-inch wheels. In Engine Options, the concept Swift debuted all-new 1.2 L 3 Cylinder petrol engine (codenamed as Z12). So, we expect the power of the Z12 engine to be lower, while the torque could be on the higher side as this would help Maruti achieve better fuel efficiency in India. Additionally, the Concept Swift shown was equipped with hybrid tech, however, it’s unlikely the Indian-spec will sport the hybrid tech.

In Engine Options, the Taisor should have three options – 1.2 L Petrol paired to 5 Speed MT / AMT, 1.0 L Turbo Petrol paired to 5 Speed MT, 6 Speed AT, and 1.2 L CNG mated to 5 Speed MT Gearbox only.In Features, the Taisor will come with features like LED Projector headlamps, LED taillamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, 9-inch infotainment system with Wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, wireless charging pad, 6-speaker Arkamy’s sound system, height adjustable driver seat, and more. Moreover, it’ll have new aero-efficient 18-inch alloy wheels and skid plates for the bumpers. From the inside, the Curvv gets a three-layer dashboard with a 12.3-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Cluster, 2-spoke steering wheel with Tata logo illumination, touch-sensitive controls for the HVAC, and new leather seat upholstery. Moreover, the Curvv EV is likely to come with 45 – 50 kWh battery pack and offer single and dual motor setup to provide 500+ KMs on a single charge. However, the ICE version will come with the 1.2 L Turbo Petrol engine producing 123.29 BHP paired to 6 Speed Manual and likely an DCT Gearbox. The other option is the 1.5 L Diesel engine producing 113.42 BHP and this is paired to 6 Speed Manual & Automatic Gearbox. In Features, it’ll have ventilated seats, 360 Surround View camera, Electric Parking Brake with auto hold, Electrically adjustable front seats, ambient lighting, wireless charging, air purifier, Heads-up Display, flush door handles, and so much more. Tata is expected to launch the EV in the first half of 2024.
Kia India is launching the next generation Kia Carnival which basically is an facelift update in the Korean market, but in India it’ll be launched as an New Generation update. It’s almost like a home on wheels because of how much comfortable the seats are in this MPV. It has four rows with captain seats in second-row which are similar to Kia EV9. Kia offers the Carnival with a V6 Engine internationally, expect the 2.2 L Diesel Engine to be offered, while it’s possible Kia could replace the V6 Engine in India with the 2.0 L Turbo Petrol Engine. The Carnival has features like dual 10.25-inch display, ventilated and heated seats, a single-pane sunroof, and a panoramic sunroof, 360 Surround View Camera, Level 2 ADAS, and so much more. The Carnival doesn’t have any direct rivals as it’s the only MPV in the segment, and it’ll continue to be the best-selling MPV in its own category.
