Tata Curvv has been testing the Curvv for a while and it looks almost same as the concept like vertically split headlamps, sloping coupe-like roofline that joins into the connected taillamps. Moreover, it’ll have new aero-efficient 18-inch alloy wheels and skid plates for the bumpers. From the inside, the Curvv gets a three-layer dashboard with a 12.3-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Cluster, 2-spoke steering wheel with Tata logo illumination, touch-sensitive controls for the HVAC, and new leather seat upholstery.Moreover, the Curvv EV is likely to come with 45 – 50 kWh battery pack and offer single and dual motor setup to provide 500+ KMs on a single charge. In Features, it’ll have ventilated seats, 360 Surround View camera, Electric Parking Brake with auto hold, Electrically adjustable front seats, ambient lighting, wireless charging, air purifier, Heads-up Display, flush door handles, and so much more. The Maruti Suzuki eVX debuted at the Auto Expo 2023 last year, and then few months ago, almost production-ready concept was showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show 2023. The 5-Seater Electric SUV comes with new connected X LED DRLs, LED headlamps underneath the DRLs, chunky bumpers, new aero-efficient alloy wheels, and connected X LED Taillamps. The interiors features dual-tone dashboard, seamlessly integrated 10.25-inch displays for infotainment system, and digital instrument cluster.Moreover, in features, it’ll get 360 Surround View Camera, ADAS, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, Powered Driver Seat, Panoramic Sunroof, and so much. It’s also worth noting that the eVX will come with 4×4 drive type to have the SUV capable for off-roading.
Mahindra was seen testing the XUV700-based electric SUV, XUV.e8 which is said to launch in December 2024. The XUV.e8 will look slightly different over the ICE Version of XUV700 like closed front grille, slightly different bumpers, and tweaked taillamps. Moreover, the EV will get triple-screen layout for the luxurious experience with size likely to be of 10.25-inch. This triple screen layout is focused on three elements – one for co-passenger to watch Netflix and other stuff, center infotainment system for EV details, and the digital instrument cluster.It could sport a 50 – 60 kWh battery pack to offer range of 500+ KMs. The XUV.e8 will compete with the upcoming Tata Harrier.ev and Safari.ev. Hyundai has finally launched the ICE version for the Indian Market but now it also wants to launch the electric version as well. The electric version of the Creta has been spotted testing many times with the pre-facelift design in India, however, in Korea, it was spotted with the new facelift version body with front changes like the connected dual L-shaped DRLs and Taillamps, new seamlessly integrated 10.25-inch dual displays, closed grille for the EV, and so on. Rest in features, everything will be the same like ventilated seats, electric parking brake, ADAS, 360 Surround View Camera, and so on. Moreover, the EV will be equipped with a battery pack between 45 – 50 kWh with single and dual motor setup giving range of 500 KMs. On its launch, it’ll compete with the upcoming Maruti eVX due for 2024 launch as well.
Kia had showcased the EV9 at the Auto Expo 2023 in January, and then few months later launched their flagship three-row SUV in South Korea, and other markets. Kia confirmed that its looking to expand the reach of EV9 to other international markets, and one of them confirmed to launch is India. The EV9 measures more than 5 Meters in Length, and is built on their Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). Kia claims the EV9 on a single charge can travel up to 541 KMs, and is offered in two variants. The Standard trim comes with 76.1 kWh battery pack with a single motor powering the rear wheels producing 214.5 BHP and 350 NM of torque and sprints from 0 – 100 KMPH in 8.2 seconds at a 185 KMPH top speed. Then there is the long range trim with 99.8 kWh battery pack with two drive-type options – Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) which has a single motor producing 201 BHP and 350 NM torque and does 0 – 100 KMPH in 9.4 Seconds. Another Option is the All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) with dual motor setup generating 380 BHP and 600 NM of torque and accelerates from 0 – 100 KMPH in 5.3 seconds at 200 KMPH top speed.The Kia EV9 was tested at the European NCAP (ENCAP) and scored 5 Star Safety Rating, Hence, when it launches in India, Kia would likely send the EV9 to the Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) and since the BNCAP and GNCAP (Global NCAP) are similar, the EV9 could scored 5 Star Safety Rating as well.
Tata Motors few months launched the ICE Harrier and Safari Facelift, and the design changes they made were inspired directly from their own concept SUV, Curvv. Although Tata had unveiled the Harrier EV at the Auto Expo 2023, it’s still possible both the EVs will undergo subtle design changes. Notably, Tata was endorsing the Harrier.ev with 4×4 capability which ICE Harrier Facelift isn’t endorsed with that. At the Auto Expo 2023, the Harrier.ev design was similar to the ICE version like the connected S-style LED taillamps. The front face was covered with body-coloured element that had horizontal thin slats on it, and different alloy wheel design for improved aerodynamic efficiency. The same can be said for the Safari.ev except the rear profile has wraparound connected taillamps, and slightly different front fascia.The interiors will be the same as the ICE version such as the 12.3-inch infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, four-spoke steering wheel with Tata logo illumination display, touch-sensitive controls for climate control, panoramic sunroof, and more. It could sport single motor setup for either Rear-Wheel-Drive or Front-Wheel-Drive Type, or twin motor setup enabling All-Wheel-Drive which could be good for 4×4. We can expect it to have range of 500+ KMs.
