7-Seater 2018 Maruti WagonR will not launch in India; Here’s Why

The 3rd-generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR is currently undergoing testing and is expected to make way to India at the end of 2018.It will sport striking exterior with muscular design while continuing with tall boy design.Earlier there were also rumours about the WagonR 7-seater to be launched along with the New WagonR 2018 5-seater.

But Maruti doesn’t feel that introducing 7-seater variant of WagonR would make sense as Maruti has already certain high selling models like Ertiga MPV and Omni and Eeco in the commercial segment.2018 Ertiga is also due for launch in India around the festive season.

There is a likability that Maruti may launch WagonR 7-seater as a replacement for Omni and Eeco in April 2019 as both of them don’t comply with BS VI norms.

New WagonR 5-seater will be powered by the same 999 cc petrol engine which churns out 67 HP and 90 NM of torque.Transmission options will include 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox.

Maruti is also said to be working on electric WagonR.If that’s true then the electric trim of WagonR will make debut in India in the later half of next year or in 2020.Maruti is also working on setting up a battery plant in India in order to support it’s electric vehicles. Also Renault is also going to launch electric Kwid next year which further increases the chances of introduction of WagonR electric in India next year.
