Ford has filed a new design patent for the Indian Market and now its for a MPV which is specifically designed for India since it doesn’t have any MPV in the International Market.
In recent months, Ford has been making significant moves in the automotive market. Notably, they’ve filed multiple patents for their entry-level SUV, the Endeavour, and have trademarked the Mustang EV in India. Now, they’ve added another patent to their roster, hinting at a new MPV with a sleek and elegant design.

This MPV boasts a sophisticated aesthetic, featuring sleek headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and a connecting light bar, along with a polygonal-shaped fog lamp housing and a distinctive front grille design. The inclusion of a Radar Module on the lower air intake suggests advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The side profile of the vehicle showcases circular wheel arches complemented by thin body cladding, chrome accents along the window beltline, functional roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, a shark fin antenna, and stylish alloy wheels, likely around 17 inches in size.These design patents make it clear that Ford has tailored this MPV specifically for the Indian market. With a keen eye on pricing and other crucial aspects such as design, spaciousness, comfort, performance, fuel efficiency, and features, Ford aims to challenge the segment leader and potentially dominate it. Additionally, by leveraging local manufacturing and high levels of localization, Ford seeks to optimize production costs and even explore exporting this model to other international markets under the Government’s PLI Scheme.Ford’s new MPV will compete with the likes of Maruti Ertiga and XL6, Kia Carens, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra XUV700.
