Aptiv PLC, a global leader in mobility technology, has officially expanded its manufacturing facility in Orgadam, Chennai. The expansion was inaugurated by Matthew Cole, Senior Vice President and President of Advanced Safety and User Experience (AS&UX) at Aptiv, along with Vinod Sahay, President and Chief Purchasing Officer of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
Matthew Cole emphasized Aptiv’s long-standing commitment to India, stating, “We are excited to continue expanding our business in India by developing the next generation of software-defined, fully integrated cockpit controllers for our customers. As experts in advanced safety and intelligent, mission-critical systems, we are dedicated to delivering modern, flexible solutions that reduce complexity, enhance performance, and lower costs. Our Chennai plant expansion marks a significant milestone in our nearly 30-year journey in India.”Aptiv is set to invest over $45 million USD in expanding its Chennai facility. This investment will bolster the production of intelligent manufacturing solutions, specifically designed to meet the needs of automotive manufacturers. The facility’s expansion will also result in a significant increase in employment, with the workforce at the Chennai complex expected to double.

The expanded facility, spanning nearly 220,000 square feet, will focus on producing state-of-the-art cockpit control systems. These systems will include advanced safety features such as radars, cameras, and next-generation electronic control units (ECUs) for both Indian and global markets. Aptiv’s solutions are tailored to address the evolving needs of Indian automakers, driving innovation in one of the world’s fastest-growing automotive markets.Arun Devaraj, Vice President and Managing Director of AS&UX APAC (Non-China) at Aptiv, highlighted the strategic importance of the Chennai plant: “Our smart production facility allows us to support a wider range of clients, further solidifying our position as a key automotive partner in India. Aptiv’s presence in India is significant, with a full suite of connected solutions designed to accelerate the shift towards software-defined vehicles. The company’s portfolio includes driver monitoring systems, infotainment systems, and vehicle electrification technologies such as high-voltage wiring harnesses, cables, connectors, and charging systems.
