Arriving Soon: Kia’s New Premium MPV. Will a hybrid powertrain be added?

Kia plans to aggressively fight with its competitors by reintroducing its premium MPV, the Carnival, to the Indian market with its upgraded design and new generation of technologies.

New Kia Carnival

In order to compete with other players in the market and provide buyers with a new, high-end MPV option, it is expected that Kia Carnival will get a generational upgrade for the Indian market this year.

Exterior Design:

The upcoming India-spec Carnival will have new front and rear fascias along with comparable style cues to the fourth-generation model sold in international countries. Expect a redesigned front grille and a new, crisp, vertically oriented projector arrangement at the front that is linked to a thin LED bar close to the bonnet. Together with similar powered sliding rear doors, the upcoming carnival’s side profile may include a new, larger alloy design that will enhance its attractiveness and class. Its boxy shape and clean design will give it the appearance of a premium MPV from the side. A longer design than the current generation model is anticipated for the upcoming Carnival.

Interior Styling:

The interior is probably going to have a redesigned dashboard with a digital cockpit experience that places a larger touchscreen infotainment system in the middle, a new digital instrument cluster, and a steering wheel with mounted controls. It also has opulent seating with leatherette upholstery, offering a lounge experience and a variety of seating arrangement options. It might come with a dual sunroof package, powered seats with memory for the back seats, and a dual rear screen for the back seats, just like the earlier model. Along with a host of other safety and connectivity features, the new Carnival will also have Level 2 ADAS technology, providing an exceptional driving experience.

Powertrain:

The same 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine, mated to an 8-speed automated gearbox, will probably power the upcoming Kia Carnival. It produces 197 Bhp and 440 Nm of peak torque. Along with a 72-horsepower electric motor, Kia can also introduce a new 1.6-liter turbo-petrol hybrid powertrain unit, which together provides 242 horsepower and roughly 367 Nm of peak torque, much like the ones found in overseas nations.

Pricing & Rivals:

Expected to go on sale for between 26 and 35 lakhs (ex-showroom), the new Kia Carnival will face fierce competition from the likes of the Innova Hycross, Maruti Invicto, and other higher-luxury MPVs.

Official Launch:

This year will likely mark the debut of the new generation of Kia Carnival.
