2023 Tata Harrier

Tata Motors is going to release an update for the Harrier/Safari Facelifts which will give them a big ADAS feature which should’ve been offered since the launch!

Tata Harrier/Safari Big ADAS Update: What you need to know!

Tata Motors recently introduced Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to the earlier version of Harrier and Safari models, equipping them with features such as forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, and lane departure warning. One notable absence from this suite was lane-keep assist, a feature that actively corrects the vehicle’s course if it drifts out of its lane without driver input.

Tata Motors explained that the reason lane-keep assist wasn’t introduced in the previous models was due to their hydraulic power steering setup. However, with the facelifted versions of these SUVs now equipped with an electronic power steering system, the company has the capability to introduce lane-keep assist.

Interestingly, despite the availability of this feature in the updated models, Tata Motors did not include it in the recently launched Harrier and Safari facelifts. The company cited the need for further calibration as the reason behind the omission. However, they assured customers who purchased the initial batch of these new SUVs that lane-keep assist would be added through a software update in the near future.

The addition of lane-keep assist will further enhance the safety features of the Safari and Harrier models, which recently earned a 5-star Global NCAP rating for adult and occupant protection. Notably, these vehicles also achieved the highest scores ever recorded under the Safer Cars for India program. In addition to the steering system software update, Tata Motors also revealed their plans to periodically roll out Over-the-Air (OTA) updates for the advanced infotainment system introduced in the facelifted Harrier, Safari, and Nexon lineup.
