Ford India’s alleged job posting for a Product Manager, EV Platform, amid a disabled LinkedIn account and a recent patent filing for the Endeavour design, raises speculation about a potential comeback, though Ford denies any official hiring announcements and exited the Indian market in September 2021.
A recent viral job posting circulating on the internet suggests that Ford India is hiring for the position of Product Manager, EV Platform. However, upon investigation by ETAuto, it was discovered that the LinkedIn account from which the post originated had been disabled. This development coincides with Ford filing a patent for the design of the Ford Endeavor in the Indian car market earlier this month.

According to a spokesperson from Ford, the company has not officially posted any job openings, including the mentioned position, on platforms such as LinkedIn or other hiring websites. The news surrounding this alleged hiring gained traction without prior confirmation or an official statement from the company. Ford withdrew from the Indian car market in September 2021 due to challenges in keeping up with the competition. The last car produced at Ford’s Chennai plant was a white EcoSport, marking Ford as the third major carmaker to exit the Indian market, following GM and Daewoo.Although Ford sold its Sanand plant in Gujarat to Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd for 725.7 crores, the sale of the Tamil Nadu plant was initially in its final stages with the JSW group. However, in December 2023, Ford backed out of the sale agreement, retaining the Tamil Nadu plant. With regulatory clearances secured for the potential sale of the plant, Ford has a strategic advantage for resuming operations.Despite its exit from the Indian market, Ford has an extensive EV portfolio, featuring models like the Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, and E-Transit van. Notably, none of these models shares the platform used for the Endeavor, for which Ford has recently filed a patent. The process of retooling to produce the new Endeavour would be relatively straightforward, given that the previous Endeavour shared some underpinnings with the latest model. The question arises whether Ford is intentionally generating hype to raise funds and potentially make a comeback in the Indian market.
