BYD’s next model has been spied in India, Seal Electric Sedan in Chennai. BYD Dealers has unofficially started accepting bookings with the EV expected to be priced from Rs. 50 Lakhs, and possible launch of March 2024.
The exterior of the electric sedan takes draw inspiration from the Ocean X Concept introduced in 2021 adhering to BYD’s “ocean aesthetics” design philosophy. The front fascia extended design creates athletic stance that looks identical to supercars. It features “floating double U head-lamps” and “ripple LED DRLs” that provides the sense of momentum of waves.
The side profile is a smooth body with electric door handle while also having slanted, sloping design for the C-Pillar. The rear profile has a dynamic view line one narrow light bar design with mini-LEDs surrounding the ends of the light bar that looks like water droplet-shape Tail-Lights makes it look so good. The bottom of the rear is fitted with carbon black finished diffuser to present a racing-inspired feel into the minds of a driver.

Jumping to the inside, the EV is equipped with a 15.6-inch Infotainment Display similar to the Atto 3 SUV and e6 MPV, while the driver benefits with a 10.25-inch Digital Instrument Cluster, and a Heads-up Display (HUD). The drive selector is positioned beneath the floating touchscreen and a scroll wheel for multiple drive modes. The interiors are adorned by gloss black inserts contemplating the contrasting dashboard tones, and door hardle-integrated speakers reminiscent of the Atto 3.

Some BYD Dealers has unofficially started accepting bookings for the Seal EV with deliveries likely to begin after the official price announcement from the brand, and so we’re expecting a Rs. 50 Lakh (ex-showroom price) with launch being reported as early as March 2024. The Seal EV will be the 3rd EV in their line-up other than the Atto 3, and e6 MPV, and so their third EV with a big price will compete with the likes of Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the Kia EV6.
