Toyota has introduced the ninth-generation Camry in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 48 lakh. This premium sedan, renowned for its efficient hybrid powertrain and luxurious features, has undergone significant updates to its design, technology, and performance. Deliveries of the new Camry have already begun, with the model being assembled at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka.
Built on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, the ninth-generation Camry reflects the brand’s signature “hammerhead” design language. The front fascia is characterized by a bold honeycomb-pattern grille, sleek LED headlamps integrated with C-shaped daytime running lights, and extended front overhangs. The redesigned side profile features striking 19-inch alloy wheels and a prominent character line, while the rear houses C-shaped LED tail lamps and a larger rear quarter glass. The Camry’s sporty and modern aesthetics complement its executive sedan status, with exterior colors like Precious Metal, Dark Blue, Cement Grey, Emotional Red, Attitude Black, and Platinum White Pearl adding further appeal.
Inside, the new Camry offers a luxurious and technologically advanced cabin. A revamped dashboard design incorporates a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, alongside a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster. Premium leather upholstery with a microfiber texture enhances comfort, while the panoramic sunroof and retractable sunshade elevate the overall ambiance.
Passenger convenience is prioritized with ventilated 10-way powered front seats, reclining rear seats with integrated controls, and three-zone automatic climate control. The Camry is powered by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine paired with Toyota’s fifth-generation Hybrid System (THS 5). This setup delivers a combined output of 228 bhp, marking a 12 bhp increase over the outgoing model. Paired with an eCVT gearbox, the powertrain ensures smooth and efficient performance. The hybrid system offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 25.49 KMPL, making it one of the most fuel-efficient sedans in its class. Toyota also provides an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty on the hybrid battery, reinforcing its commitment to reliability.
Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite ensures comprehensive safety with advanced features like pre-collision assist, adaptive cruise control with curve speed reduction, lane-tracing assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Additionally, the Camry is equipped with nine airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams, offering a secure and confidence-inspiring driving experience.
The new Camry is priced Rs. 1.83 lakh higher than the outgoing model, which was available at Rs. 46.17 lakh. Despite the price increase, it remains more affordable than its primary competitor, the Skoda Superb, which launched at Rs. 54 lakh. Additionally, the Camry serves as an alternative to luxury sedans such as the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine, priced at Rs. 46.02 lakh, Rs. 54.40 lakh, and Rs. 60.60 lakh, respectively.
