If you want a premium sedan at a lesser price than its ex-showroom price, say no more! Skoda is offering Huge Rs. 18 Lakhs Discount on its sedan!
The Skoda Superb, an iconic executive sedan, was reintroduced to India in April 2024 as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Priced at Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom), the third-generation model faced challenges despite its popularity. This steep price was largely due to hefty import taxes, as Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) decided to bring only 100 units directly from abroad. However, year-end discounts of up to Rs 18 lakh have made this premium sedan more affordable, bringing its effective price down to approximately Rs 36 lakh (before taxes).
Reintroduction of the Skoda Superb
The locally assembled third-generation Skoda Superb was discontinued in 2023 due to stricter BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. In April 2024, Skoda reintroduced the Superb in India, but this time as an imported model. Interestingly, the units brought to India were manufactured in 2023, making them one calendar year old at the time of re-launch. This aging factor has further impacted buyer interest.
Limited Availability with Discounts
Although Skoda initially announced that all 100 imported units had been sold, dealerships across India reportedly still hold around 20-25 unsold units. To clear this inventory, dealers are offering discounts of up to Rs 18 lakh. These discounts bring the effective ex-showroom price to Rs 36 lakh, making it comparable to the locally assembled model that was discontinued last year.
Features That Stand Out
The imported Skoda Superb packs significant upgrades over the discontinued locally manufactured model, making it a compelling choice for buyers. Dynamic Chassis Control enhances driving dynamics, providing a refined experience. Advanced safety features include nine airbags, an active tyre pressure monitoring system, and an ADAS safety suite. The larger 9-inch Columbus infotainment system offers improved functionality, adding to the sedan’s appeal.
Under the hood, a 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine delivers 187 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds, making it a robust performer on the road.
Should You Buy It?
Purchasing a 2023-manufactured model in late 2024 or early 2025 may raise concerns about the car’s aging status. However, with the significant discounts, the imported Skoda Superb offers excellent value. At around Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom) and approximately Rs 38 lakh on-road in most locations, buyers get a premium sedan equipped with advanced features that were unavailable in the locally assembled version.
This deal presents an opportunity to own a luxury sedan with high-end features at a reduced price. Prospective buyers should weigh the benefits of advanced equipment and lower costs against the consideration of the vehicle’s manufacturing date.
