It’s time to compare the two electric SUVs, BYD Atto 3 and the MG ZS EV. Both the cars are feature loaded, and so, it’ll be interesting which car is the better car.
At the front as you can see, there is the chrome element that joins with the LED headlamps and within the headlamp is the LED DRLs. The whole body of the car has very slight creases and the rear and front bumper finished in silver faux skid plate. No grille at the front because it’s an electric car so it’s not needed at all. Moving to the side, it has chrome line over the window frame and 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, there are LED taillamps which are connected by the LED light bar with rear wiper on the rear windscreen.
The ZS EV has closed grille with the tri-arrow patterns around the MG logo. Earlier, the charging port was integrated with the MG logo, however, the charging port has been moved to the side. The bumpers both front and the rear has been revised. The LED DRLs are integrated with the LED headlamp which are sharp and sleek. The side has creases with alloy wheels and a request sensor for the passenger door as well. The rear LED Taillamps has the same look from the outside as the LED headlamps except the taillamps has mini-LEDs that form a design inside the taillamps.
Both the cars have a cleaner interior look with BYD looking more clean. Both the cars have the option for dual-tone interiors. The Door handles on the BYD are in circular shape with curvy handle on them where as the ZS EV like all cars have the same door handles. Both the cars have three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster as well. The ZS EV has horizontal AC vents at the center and round-shaped AC vents at the corners while the BYD has different circular looking AC vents with three chrome vents. Atto 3 has a gear lever even though it’s electric while ZS EV has round knob to change the car function.

As you can see at the Dimensions, the Atto 3 has 4455mm length whereas the ZS EV has 4323mm length with 132mm difference. The Atto 3 has 1875mm width while the ZS EV is 1809mm wide which is less as the Atto 3 is 66mm more wide than the ZS EV. The Atto 3 has 1615mm height which is 34mm less compare to 1649mm height of ZS EV. The Atto 3 has a wheelbase of 2720mm while the MG ZS EV has 2585mm wheelbase which is 135mm less than the Atto 3 wheelbase.
However, the ZS EV has 192mm ground clearance which is 17mm more than the Atto 3 175mm ground clearance. The ZS EV also has boot space of 470 litres which is 30 litres more than the Atto 3 440 litres. The Kerb Weight of Atto 3 is 1,750 kg while the ZS EV somehow managed to keep the kerb weight at 1,547 kg.

As you can see at the battery specifications table, the BYD Atto 3 uses 60.48 kWh battery pack which produces 201.15 bhp and 310 Nm of torque which gives a range of 521 km. On A.C charger, it can charge from 0 – 80% in 9.5 hrs to 10 hrs while the same on a D.C charger can do it in 50 minutes. It goes from 0 – 100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds at a top speed of 160 kmph.
The MG ZS EV on the other hand, has a battery pack of 50.3 kWh which produces 174.33 bhp and 280 Nm of torque and gives a range of 461 km. It can charge from 0 – 80% in 8.5 hrs to 9 hrs on a A.C charger while the same can be done on a D.C Charger in just 60 minutes. It can go from 0 – 100 kmph in just 8.55 seconds which is still good but not as good as BYD Atto 3.

As you can see, both the cars have similar features yet the difference is noticeable. The ZS EV has 6-speaker sound system whereas the BYD Atto 3 has 8-speaker sound system. Second is the infotainment system, the BYD Atto 3 has 12.8-inch while the ZS EV has 10.1-inch infotainment system.

As you can see, the BYD Atto 3 starts at Rs. 35.65 lakh for the electric variant and goes up to Rs. 36.18 lakh for the Special Edition. The MG ZS EV starts at Rs. 24.56 lakh for the Excite variant and goes up to Rs. 28.71 lakh for the top variant Exclusive DT variant.
In the end, the decision to buy which totally depends on you, but however, if you ask us, we would recommend you the BYD Atto 3 as it faster than the ZS EV, more range than the ZS EV, and has little more powerful than the MG ZS EV. So, we recommend you to buy BYD Atto 3.
