Citroen has been spied testing the Basalt in India ahead of its launch in the next few months. Even though its camouflaged, it still reveals some interesting details. Let’s deep dive and see what this test mule has got for us.
The Coupe SUV from Citroen was spied parked at a location allowing to take a glance and what this model or variant is about. As already revealed by Citroen, the front profile is entirely similar to the C3 and C3 Aircross. But if we look at the headlamps, it appears that the setup is Halogen with no DRLs. Moreover, if we look at the side profile, the SUV sports 16-inch steel wheels painted in black with no roof rails on top, and no turn indicators on ORVMs. The rear is completely camouflaged, but although we know how the rear profile looks, it’s possible the Tail-lamp unit is Halogen as well.

It’s possible this is a variant above the base trim in the line-up since the wheels are painted black, if it was base, it would be just wheels with no black paints whatsoever. However, it’s possible this is just for testing purposes as many a times car manufacturers wouldn’t use alloy wheels, but rely on steel wheels for testing until they are absolutely sure they can proceed to alloy wheels for testing. Other test mules has been spied uncamouflaged with X-design alloy wheels, LED Headlamps, etc.
The Basalt will be positioned above the C3 Aircross in the line-up and its expected to come with additional features as well like Automatic Climate Control, Auto-Dimming IRVM, Rain-Sensing Wipers, Ventilated Seats, 6 Airbags as standard, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, etc. among other features. The SUV will definitely from the inside will be reminiscent of the C3 Aircross and sport equipment like 10.1-inch Infotainment with Wireless Apple Carplay / Android Auto, Digital 7-inch Cluster, rear AC vents, etc.
The SUV will be powered by the 1.2 L 3 Cylinder Turbo Petrol Engine producing 109 BHP and 190 NM Torque mated to an 6 Speed Manual and Automatic Gearbox. The Basalt is expected to be priced from Rs. 10.50 Lakh to Rs. 15 Lakh with launch likely taking place in the coming few months.
