New-Gen Mahindra XUV500: What We Know So Far!
After the launch of XUV700, Mahindra had unfortunately discontinued the XUV500 given the numbers produced in sales it wasn’t what Mahindra was expected. Mahindra had said it is temporarily discontinuing the XUV500 after renaming the new generation of XUV700. Few months ago, the XUV500 was spied testing in Chennai with coupe roofline, and before the SUV was discontinued, it’s length was 4.6 Meters but if you look at the spy shots, it looks to be around 4.3 – 4.4 Meters in length. It’ll be positioned above the XUV300 and below the XUV700 to take on the segment leader, Hyundai Creta.
The XUV500 is said to be built on the XUV300 platform for an aggressive pricing, and would likely have 2 Engine Options – 1.5 L Diesel and 1.5 L Turbo Petrol Engine with Gearbox Choice for both the engine will be the 6 Speed Manual and Automatic Gearbox. When it comes to features, the new-gen XUV500 could get with ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, 2-zone climate control, 10.25-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster (same as XUV700), powered driver seat, LED Headlamps, Air Purifier, possibly Sony Sound System, and so much more.
In terms of safety, Mahindra will offer it with 360 Surround View Camera, Front and Rear Parking Sensors, ABS with EBD, Hill Descent Control, Hill Assist, 6 Airbags, TPMS, and possibly Level 1 ADAS.
As for the launch, Mahindra is still mysteriously testing the New-Gen XUV500 and we expect to see the reveal of the SUV in mid 2024 with launch probably in the late 2024. It’ll compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Citroen C3 Aircross, MG Astor, VW Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq.
