The SUV here in question here is the MG Astor. In other countries, Astor is known as ZS in many markets and popular in European countries. A design patent of the ZS Astor has leaked from China’s Patent Registry revealing a new design for the SUV. The SUV will get sophisticated look drawing similarities to BMW’s X3 SUV due to similarities in the glass area, shoulder line, headlights, and bumper creases.

Compared to the current version on sale, the new Astor’s design patent shows the SUV more premium and mature. The front fascia features several redesigned elements, including conventional headlights with integrated LED DRLs and projector headlights positioned at the bottom within large C-shaped creases. These creases may contain vents, though it remains uncertain if they are functional.
A neatly executed indent connects the headlights, potentially housing an LED connecting light bar. The grille has grown larger, replacing the cascading effect pattern with an aggressive parametric pattern. The bonnet sports strong lines, enhancing the vehicle’s aggressive appearance. The side shoulder line has been extended further to the rear, and the D-pillars now feature a much larger quarter glass.
At the rear, the tail lights have been slightly reduced in size, rear windshield is straighter, and the roof spoiler is larger. The rear bumper is sportier and continues to feature fake exhaust vents. While there are no images of the new MG Astor’s interior yet, it is anticipated to receive a comprehensive update with an enhanced features list.
As for the Engine Options, expect MG to retain its two options – 1.5 L Petrol with 6 Speed Manual and 8 Speed CVT gearbox; and 1.3 L Turbo Petrol with 6 Speed Manual and Automatic Gearbox.
