Datsun India have released a couple of teaser images of its upcoming Redigo facelift.The small hatchback was updates last year with addition of new safety features and in 2018, it got AMT variants in combination with 1.0 litre petrol trims.
As seen in the teaser images, the hatchback features a number of changes on the exterior front.First of all, the front grille grows much bigger in size while the headlamps still halogen has got more sharper and stylish, seems to be derived from Nissan Kicks.While the small LED DRLs have paved way to L shaped daytime running lamps and will be seen also in Nissan’s upcoming Magnite compact SUV which will be launched with an aggressive price in the market.
The front fender comes with the Datsun logo and the wheel design will also be new, with alloys being available in the top spec fully loaded variant.Another addition to the hatchback in 2020 will be at the rear profile in the form of rear windshield mounted spoiler with the tail lamps being slightly tweaked as well.
Changes would even be made to the cabin as well to make it even more refreshing.It will get updated dashboard design, new pattern for seat upholstery and biggest add on here would be a touchscreen infotainment system and a passenger side airbag to make it compliant with the Indian crash safety norms.No mechanical changes would be made as it just a facelift and not a generation update.
Nissan India will slowly phase out the Datsun brand from India and the process is likely to take 2-3 years with the complete procedure being done by 2022 end or 2023 beginning.
Currently it is offered with 0.8 L and 1.0 L petrol engine with manual engine for 800 cc engine and manual and automatic for the 1000 cc variants and is likely to continue with the same set of engines in the BS 6 era with the mileage slightly going down.

The price of Datsun Go with the BS 6 upgrade will go high by around Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000.
Datsun Redi Go hatchback competes with the other entry level hatchbacks including Maruti Alto (BS 6) which comes with 0.8 L petrol and CNG options as well and is priced between Rs. 2.95 L and Rs. 3.9 L while Kwid which is available in 0.8 L petrol, 1.0 L petrol comes in the price tag of Rs. 2.9 L and Rs. 5 L
