With launch still sometime away, Mahindra has been spied testing the Thar 5 Door again, but this time it was parked on the road which allowed us to take a quick peak at the inside of the SUV. Let’s break it down for you.
Mahindra Thar 5 Door Spied Again: What’s New?
So, we’ve seen the Thar 5 Door numerous times testing revealing many new things before it officially launches, which takes place on the Independence Day, August 15th. But every time we’ve seen the SUV, the interiors always had black theme which is like a main theme for an bold, rugged SUV of its size. However, this time, we’ve spied the SUV with white upholstery for the cabin.

As you can see in the image above, the white theme can be seen on both front and rear seats, the roof, grab handle, armrests, and the dashboard. Moreover, this spied variant doesn’t get push start/stop button, keyless entry, and sunroof on top, leading to believe this is likely a mid-variant. Other than that, the SUV sports an 18-inch alloy wheels, LED Headlamps, Tail-lamps & DRLs, side step-up to enter the rear seats, and spare wheel mounted on the tail-gate.
Mechanically, the SUV is set to get 3 Engine Options – 2.2 L Diesel, 2.0 L Turbo Petrol, and the 1.5 L Diesel Engine. The 1.5 L Diesel engine will be restricted likely upto the mid-variants with Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD) as available option only. The other two engine will get both 4×4 and RWD options.
The Thar 5 Door will launch in the coming months with pricing expected to be slightly above the Big Daddy of SUVs, the Scorpio-N. Upon its launch, it’ll compete with the likes of Maruti Jimny and the newly launched, Force Gurkha 5-Door.
