Kia after launching the Seltos Facelift, and X-Line Edition for Carens, now has full focus on the upcoming Sonet Facelift that will launch in coming months, and out of nowhere, the exterior design of the Sonet Facelift has leaked online.
The Kia Sonet facelift, set to launch in India within the next 2-3 months, has recently had its undisguised images leaked, providing a comprehensive look at the exterior design updates. These images seen are of a Sonet variant intended for overseas markets, which exceeds four meters in length. However, it’s worth noting that Kia India has stated that the Indian version of the Sonet facelift will feature slightly different front and rear bumper designs compared to the ones seen in these leaked images.
This will be the first mid-lifecycle update for the Sonet since its initial release in September 2020, with changes primarily centered on plastic components. The most noticeable alterations include a new front bumper and headlamp assembly. While the core headlamp cluster maintains its shape, there’s a novel drop-down element that extends into the bumper, featuring revised LED Daytime Running Lamps and fog lamps. Judging by the bumper design, this appears to be an HT Line variant, which comes with a slightly revamped faux skid plate and mesh for the central air intake. The GT-Line variants may sport different bumper designs. Kia has also made updates to the grille inserts, although the overall shape remains consistent.
In terms of the side profile, there are no significant changes, except for the introduction of new alloy wheels, which may vary between the HT-Line and GT-Line trims. Moving to the rear, the wraparound tail lamps have been replaced with new vertical units that are now connected by an LED light bar. Additionally, a sturdier rear bumper with a dual-tone black and silver finish has been incorporated into the design.
Moving to the interiors, the leakers didn’t gave us a look at the inside, however, a previous spy shots by an youtuber reveals that it’ll feature slightly updated switchgear for the HVAC control, and all-new digital instrument cluster borrowed from the Hyundai Venue. Additionally, the upcoming Sonet will feature dual-tone brown colour seat upholstery, and armrest for the rear seats.
As for the powertrains, it’ll have 3 options – 1.2 L 4 Cylinder Petrol producing 81.80 BHP and 115 NM of torque mated to 5 Speed Manual Gearbox, the 1.0 L 3 Cylinder Turbo Petrol generating 118 BHP, and 172 NM of torque mated to 6 Speed IMT, and 7 Speed DCT Gearbox, and lastly, the 1.5 L 4 Cylinder Diesel producing 115 BHP and 250 NM of torque paired to 6 Speed IMT, and Automatic Gearbox. It’s unlikely they’ll make any changes to the powertrains.
Kia Sonet Facelift on its launch will rival the Tata Nexon who a month got facelift update, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
