Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the car sales with 8 cars from their line-up dominating the top 10 car sales of August 2023 marking another great month for them. The other two cars in the top 10 are from Tata Motors, and Hyundai Motors India.

Topping the list is the Maruti Swift with 18,653 units marking the hatchback as the best-selling car of August 2023. It reported year-on-year growth by 65.43% against the 11,275 units in August 2022. The premium hatchback Baleno holds 2nd position with 18,516 unit sales over the 18,418 unit in August 2022 with growth in sales by 0.53% and growth in volume by 98 units. The Wagon R finished at 3rd position with 15,578 units and reported decline in sales by 15.32% over the last year with 18,398 units in August 2022.
The Brezza is at 4th position with 14,572 unit sales, and this just goes on to show how dominant Maruti Suzuki is in the Indian Market as it holds the Top 4 positions. Taking 5th position is the Tata Punch with 21.37% year-on-year growth, and Hyundai Creta is at 6th position with 13,832 units. Hyundai Motors is currently testing the facelift of the SUV with ADAS, and is expected to launch the SUV by February 2024. Maruti then is back at 7th position with Dzire as its done 13,293 units against the 11,868 units resulting in growth in sales by 12%.
The 8th, 9th and 10th position is also taken by Maruti Suzuki with Ertiga, Fronx and Eeco. Those three did 12,315, 12,164, and 11,859 units in sales respectively with Ertiga reporting growth by 32.22%, Fronx launched earlier this year in April 2023, and Eeco reports dip in sales by 1.16% over the last year.
In October, Maruti Suzuki is going to reveal the next-gen Swift with petrol-hybrid powertrain that could have an fuel efficiency between 35 – 40 kmpl making it the most efficient car in the world. The Dzire is going to get the same treatment as well but we wouldn’t know anything about the Dzire until 2024. So, we’ve to wait and see what happens in the coming months.
