Maruti Suzuki has revealed that the Baleno-crossover SUV, Fronx has achieved 1,00,000 Sales Milestone in just 9 Months since its launch in April last year; beating its elder sibling, Grand Vitara.
The Fronx was first officially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023 and then three months later it was launched for the Indian Market. In 9 Months, the Fronx managed to achieve the 1 Lakh Sales Milestone defeating the bigger SUV from Maruti, the Grand Vitara. Maruti in their press release says the Fronx played an important role in the company’s sales doubling the shares in the SUV segment to 19.7% in CY2023 over the 10.4% in 2022. In December 2023 alone, it sold 9,692 units while the Grand Vitara sold only 6,988 units.

The Fronx is offered with 3 Powertrain Options – 1.2 L Petrol produces 88.50 BHP and 113 NM mated to 5 Speed Manual and Automatic (AMT) Gearbox; 1.0 L Turbo Petrol makes 98.69 BHP and 147.6 NM of torque mated to 5 Speed Manual and 6 Speed Automatic (AT) Gearbox; and the 1.2 L CNG generates 76.43 BHP and 98.5 NM of torque paired to 5 Speed Manual Gearbox only. Notably, the Fronx so far is the only model in Maruti’s line-up to come with a turbo-petrol engine.Coming back to the sales, the consumers are opting for the CNG option as it contributes to around 20% in sales, while the turbo trims are sold in between 5 – 7%, but more importantly, 48 – 50% people are largely opting for the 1.2 L Petrol Manual trims. The AMT trims however as a 25% demand in sales.The Fronx comes with big features like 360 Surround View Camera, Wireless Charging Pad, 9-inch Infotainment System with Wireless Apple Carplay & Android Auto, 6 Airbags, LED Headlamps, Connected LED Taillamps, and so much more.Currently, Maruti is busy testing the Next generation Swift for the Indian Market that is expected to launch in the next 3 months, and the Next-Gen Dzire which will likely launch in the first half of 2024.
