Toyota Fortuner leads the Full-Size SUV Segment again in May 2023 finishing way ahead of Jeep Meridian, and MG Gloster by huge margin in units!

Top 5 Full-Size SUVs May 2023 Sales

Toyota India Full-Size SUV, Fortuner which is combined sales figures of Fortuner and Fortuner Legender, continues to dominate the Full SUV Segment by being the most sold SUV in India, and showcasing improved sales growth everytime. Being at No.1 position, it reports 2,887 units in May 2023 which is up by 143.83% over the 1,184 units in May 2023 and month-on-month sales is up by 11.99% from the 2,578 units. Toyota is currently testing the next generation of Fortuner that is scheduled to launch in 2024, and is working on launching the diesel-hybrid powertrain.

Jeep Meridian is at 2nd position with sales of 418 units in May 2023 against the 292 units in April 2023 with month-on-month increase in sales by 43.15%. Jeep Meridian had launched in May 2022 with a big focus on off-roading, and it’s a diesel powered SUV. At third position is the top of the line model from MG, the Gloster. It has done sales of 217 units in May 2023 over the 51 units in May 2022 with year-on-year sales up by 325.49%; however, the month-on-month is in decline by 22.78% from the 281 units in April 2023.

MG recently launched the Black Storm Edition for the Gloster to boost the sales of the SUV. It has a full-black interior and exterior with red highlights on the ORVM, bumpers, door claddings, headlights, red ambient lighting, and red backlight illumination. Other than that, everything remains the same, no additional features. The Volkswagen Tiguan is at fourth position with sales of 171 units which is up by 216.67% over the 54 units in May 2022, and the month-on-month sales is also up by 451.61% from the 31 units in April 2023.

Lastly, the Skoda Kodiaq is at the fifth position with 157 units over the 106 units which is up by 48.11%, and the month-on-month sales is also up by 12.14% from the 140 units in April 2023. In the end, the cumulative sales of the Top 5 Full-Size SUV is 3,693 units in May 2023 which is up by 186.05% over the 1,289 units in May 2022, and the month-on-month sales is also up by 16.06% from the 3,182 units in April 2023.
