Honda’s Upcoming SUV (Creta Rival) – Top 5 things you Must Know

Honda recently revealed the name for their upcoming mid-size SUV. It’s going to be called Elevate and will be globally premiered from India. Before it launches, you should know these 5 things about the Honda Elevate –

It’s not their first mid-size SUV for India!

Honda before had launched BR-V mid-size SUV during the first-gen Hyundai Creta. This BR-V SUV was the first SUV in its segment to feature three-rows but it didn’t find any success because of its MPV-style SUV and the build quality and equipment not up to the par as its rivals. Honda had also considered launching the HR-V in India, but that plan was eventually dropped. Now, they’ll be launching their second mid-size SUV in India as it was spotted numerous times testing and might give the competition to the Creta that they’re hoping for.

Shares Design Cues with Other Honda Models!

The upcoming Honda mid-size SUV shares its design cue with other Honda models such as the sixth-generation CR-V and the new-gen WR-V revealed last year. From what we can see in the spy shots, it has a flat nose with big Honda logo at the center and sleek LED headlamps similar to the CR-V SUV. At the rear, LED taillamps which look similar to the new-gen WR-V. Other noticeable design cues were multi-spoke alloy wheels, and muscular wheel arches.

This new upcoming Honda SUV will be build on the same platform as the 5th-generation Honda City and will also have the same petrol powered engine options and possibly get Hybrid option as well. The new Honda SUV will be powered by the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 119.35 bhp and 145 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed Manual Transmission and CVT Transmission. There will be no diesel engines on offer.

If it does get hybrid option in future, it will be powered by 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol-hybrid engine that puts out 122.57 bhp and 253 Nm of torque paired to a e-CVT Transmission.

Loaded with Features!

The Honda City in India gets ADAS feature and so the upcoming SUV could get ADAS features such as the Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and Auto High Beam. It could get other features such as 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, electronic parking hold brake with auto hold function, and six airbags.

Launch on June 6th!

Honda had confirmed that it’ll be globally debuting the Honda Elevate on June 6th from India and will be exported from India to other international markets with plans to produces 8,000 units monthly. It is expected to be priced between Rs. 12 lakh to Rs. 19 lakh. The Honda Elevate on it’s launch will rival the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Kia Seltos.
