Hyundai Motors has filed two new trademarks – Hy-CNG and Hy-CNG Duo indicating a new naming nomenclature, along with a probable dual-cylinder technology to increase boot space in CNG Cars.
Given the rise in fuel prices, many peoples are switching to CNG because it’s generally cheaper than petrol and diesel providing significant savings on fuel expenses. Moreover, it’s known for better fuel efficiency in terms of cost per kilometer. However, the only problem with CNG is that there’s a huge CNG Cylinder in the boot space eating all the space leaving with almost nothing.

Tata Motors had a solution to this problem by introducing dual cylinders shorter in size, have it fitted in the boot where spare wheel was kept, retaining almost of your boot space to allow you to travel far anywhere you want with all of your luggages. Now, Hyundai has now trademarked two names – Hy-CNG and Hy-CNG Duo. Currently, Hyundai offers CNG with the Exter, Grand i10 Nios, and the Aura and in order to increase the volumes of sales to compete with the likes of Maruti’s S-CNG and Tata’s i-CNG with Dual Cylinder CNG Kits; the company may take two approach towards this. Hy-CNG Single-Cylinder CNG Kits for low affordable models and Hy-CNG Duo with Dual-Cylinder CNG Kits for a premium models. Similar to the Tata’s i-CNG, we anticipate more boot space than it currently does in Hyundai models by having reworked boot where they store the CNG Cylinder giving consumers way more space to store that carrybags, luggages, etc. With the status as “Formalities Check Pass”, it’s possible Hyundai will now push CNG Options towards other models such as i20, Venue, Verna, Creta, and the Alcazar similar to what Maruti Suzuki does with its line-up.
