Hyundai Motors has been spotted in Chennai testing the Creta EV which will launch in India in 2025 and once it launches, it’ll surely gonna be chaos for the manufacturers in India. Here are the five things about the Creta EV you probably didn’t know about –

Creta EV codenamed, ‘SU2i’

Hyundai has codenamed the Creta EV as ‘SU2i’ that will be manufactured at their manufacturing plant in Chennai. Take a close look at the floor panel for the subtle change, it has been slightly extended for the battery pack. Rest details about the EV from the outside remains the same. Moreover, the Creta EV will be made-in-India that will be exported to other international markets.

Range of 450+ KMs

While there is no official announcement or any information about the battery pack of the Creta EV, however, there are reports that states the Creta EV could borrow the battery pack from the Kona EV. The 39.2 kWh battery pack pumps out 134.10 bhp and 395 Nm of torque with maximum range of 452 km. It can charge from 0 – 100% in 6 hours 16 minutes using a A.C Charger while it takes only 57 minutes to charge from 0 – 80% using a 50 kW D.C Charger. While it will be launching in 2025, it could probably have range of 500+ kms at least.

Features

The Hyundai Creta EV will have features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, 10.25-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, possibly heated seats, Automatic climate control, new two-spoke steering wheel, Bose Premium sound system, and so much more. In Safety, it will have six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Traction Control, and ADAS Level 2 features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Rear-Cross Traffic Alert and Assist, and much more.

Rivals

Once the Hyundai Creta EV launches in India, it’ll rival the electric SUVs such as the MG ZS EV, the upcoming Maruti’s first EV, eVX with 500 km claimed range which was first showcased at Auto Expo 2023. The Hyundai Creta EV will be third EV it launches in India, the other two being the Kona EV and the recently launched IONIQ 5.

Price and Launch!

Hyundai is expected to price the EV version of the ICE Creta between Rs. 18 lakhs to Rs. 30 lakhs and will launch in 2025 as the testing will be completed before the end of 2024 and production beginning at the end of 2024.
