Hyundai Motors India has just revealed the name for their upcoming all-new SUV that will rival the Tata Punch in the segment which will launch later this year.
Hyundai new SUV name revealed – What is it?
Hyundai has announced the name of its upcoming all-new SUV and it’s going to be sold in India as Hyundai Exter. The COO of Hyundai Motors India, Tarun Garg, said this on the announcement, “We’re proud to announce the name of our new SUV – Hyundai Exter that exemplifies the pulse of Gen Z Buyers while empowering them with a smart mobility solution to fuel their wanderlust. Hyundai Exter is the eighth model in our line-up with an SUV body style and we’re confident that this new member to our family will provide further fillip to our growth in SUV sales.”
Currently, Hyundai has Creta, Venue, Alcazar, and Tucson in its portfolio and joining them will be the Exter. The Exter is based on the Grand i10 Nios and will be powered by the same 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine that powers the i10 Nios as well as this engine puts out 81.8 bhp and 113.8 Nm of torque paired to 5-speed Manual Transmission and 5-speed Automatic Transmission. It might also get one additional petrol engine which is the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine since it will not get diesel engine due to emission norms.
This 1.0-litre turbo-petrol that puts out 120 bhp and 172 Nm of torque paired to 5-speed Manual Transmission and 7-speed DCT Transmission. The Exter would get features such as two-spoke multi-function steering wheel, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, height adjustable driver seat, adjustable headlamps, projector headlamps, cruise controls, Bluelink connected car tech, LED DRLs, and 15-inch alloy wheels. In safety, it has ABS with EBD, ESC, reverse parking camera, and ISOFIX anchorages.
The Hyundai Exter is scheduled to launch in August 2023. Expected prices to commence from Rs 6 lakhs (ex showroom).
