Hyundai Motors India has revealed the cumulative domestic sales of May 2023 and it has done sales of 48,601 units which is up by 14.91% from the 42,293 units in May 2022.
Hyundai Motors India recorded 48,601 units in May 2023 finishing at 2nd position on the overall manufacturer’s sales table. A total of 11 models were sold in May 2023 and they’re Creta, Venue, Grand i10 Nios, i20, Aura, Verna, Alcazar, Tucson, IONIQ 5, Kona EV, and Santro. Hyundai had launched the IONIQ 5 at the Auto Expo held in January 2023 and also launched the next-gen Verna recently in March 2023.
The Creta was sold the most for Hyundai Motors in May 2023 with sales of 14,449 units which is up by 31.68% from the 10,973 units in May 2022, and the month-on-month growth is by 1.86% from the 14,186 units in April 2023. Hyundai Creta continues preferred in the mid-size SUV segment even though there are other SUV’s with better features than Creta, but people love the Creta given how spacious and luxurious it feels. At second position is the Venue with 10,213 unit sales in May 2023 which is up by 23.05% from the 8,300 units in May 2022. However, the month-on-month growth is decline by 1.25% from the 10,342 units in April 2023.
At 3rd position is the Grand i10 Nios with 6,385 unit sales in May 2023 which is in decline by 23.05% from the 9,138 units in May 2022, and the month-on-month growth is down by 6.64% from the 6,839 units in April 2023. Hyundai had recently updated the Grand i10 Nios with cosmetic updates. At 4th position is the i20 with sales of 6,094 units in May 2023 which is up by 36.54% from the 4,463 unit sales in May 2022, and month-on-month sales is down by 5.84% from the 6,472 units in April 2023. Hyundai is currently testing the i20 facelift which is expected to be launched later this year with cosmetic updates, and few new features.
The Aura is at 5th position with 4,707 unit sales in May 2023 over the 3,311 units in May 2022 which is 42.16% year-on-year growth, and the month-on-month growth is down by 7.43% from the 5,085 units in April 2023. Hyundai along with Grand i10 Nios had given the Aura a cosmetic update and nothing else. The newly updated Verna has done sales of 3,687 units in May 2023 from the 1,488 units in May 2022 which is up by 147.78% and month-on-month sales is down by 7.85% from the 4,001 units in April 2023. The SUV MPV, Alcazar reported sales of 2,443 units in May 2023 from the 1,947 units in May 2022 which is up by 25.48% and the month-on-month sales is up by 19.93% from the 2,037 units in April 2023.
The Tucson launched in 2022 with sales of 379 units in May 2023 which is up by 37800% from the 1 unit in May 2022, and the month-on-month sales is down by 31.09% from the 550 units in April 2023. The IONIQ 5 that launched at the Auto Expo in January 2023 did sales of 160 units which is down by 15.34% from the 189 units in April 2023. The Kona EV did sales of 84 units in May 2023 from the 64 units in May 2022 which is up by 31.25% and it wasn’t available for sale in April 2023. Lastly, the Santro has been discontinued and was only available last year with 2,608 units in May 2022.
