Honda has launched the Indian-Spec Elevate in Japan as the WR-V which gets the same 1.5 L naturally-aspirated Petrol engine paired to sole CVT Gearbox.
Honda WR-V (Elevate) Launched in Japan: What You Need to Know!
Last September, Honda introduced the Elevate SUV to the Indian market, and now it’s poised for a global expansion. Demonstrating its manufacturing prowess and global competitiveness, Honda recently exported the Elevate to Japan under the name WR-V SUV. This move reflects the company’s confidence in delivering high-quality, made-in-India models to global consumers.

In Japan, the WR-V is available in three trims: X, Z, and Z+. The base “X” trim starts at JPY 2,098,800 (approximately Rs. 11.55 lakh), while the top variant, Z+, is priced at JPY 2,489,000 (around Rs. 13.70 lakh). The pricing disparity between the Elevate in India and the WR-V in Japan can be attributed to the fact that the WR-V in Japan exclusively features a CVT gearbox, whereas the Indian variant offers both a 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox.
Indian consumers may find it disappointing that the WR-V’s base trim in Japan comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), six airbags, LED headlamps, auto climate control, a 7-inch instrument cluster, IR and UV glass, and paddle shifters. In terms of dimensions, the WR-V measures 4325mm in length, 1790mm in width, and 1650mm in height. The Elevate in India boasts a ground clearance of 220mm, whereas the WR-V in Japan has a ground clearance of 195mm.
Under the hood, the WR-V in Japan is powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers 86 BHP and 142 Nm of torque. This marks a decrease of 33 BHP and 3 Nm of torque compared to the Indian Elevate model.
