Jeep Compass BS6 Diesel Automatic Launched at Rs. 22 Lakhs, Available in Longitude and Limited Plus

Jeep India has finally introduced diesel automatic variants in Compass in the lower trims.The SUV has been available in petrol and diesel powertrains and a variety of variants along with a proper off roading trim in the form of Trailhawk which was till now the only diesel trim to be offered with the option of automatic transmission.

But now Jeep India have brought diesel automatic option in its lower trims as well.The two trims which receives the BS-VI compliant diesel AT are Longitude and Limited Plus.Both too them are available with all wheel drive system.

The price of 4×4 Longitude 9 speed automatic variant is Rs. 21.96 Lakhs(Ex Showroom) which makes it around Rs. 4 Lakh expensive than the BS-4 longitude diesel manual variant.Top features of longitude diesel automatic are dual tone premium interior, cruise control, reverse parking camera with dynamic guidelines, dual zone automatic climate control, push start stop button among other features

While the Limited Plus AWD 9 speed automatic diesel variant is priced at Rs. 24.99 Lakhs (Ex Showroom).Over the regular BS-IV Limited plus diesel manual variant, the automatic counterpart is costlier by Rs. 3.6 Lakhs.Some of the key features of this new trim includes cruise control, 8.4 inch Connect touchscreen infotainment system with all the modern connectivity support, panoramic sunroof, electrochromic inside rear view mirror, leather seats, rain sensing automatic wipers, side and curtain airbags, 18 inch alloys and automatic headlamps.

Both these new trims gets powered by 2.0 litre 4 cylinder BS6 Multijet Diesel engine which is capable of generating 170 BHP of power and 350 NM of peak torque.This engine draws power from 9 speed automatic transmission which is derived from the one in Trailhawk off roading variant.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Partha Datta – President and Managing Director, FCA India said, “We are strengthening and expanding the Jeep Compass range with the introduction of four diesel automatic variants, of which, the base and top-end variant will available to consumers right away. Both variants offer more equipment, boosting the value-for-money proposition for the customer which we believe will increase our share in the segment. This roll out has also given us the opportunity to offer our locally-made BSVI-compliant 2.0-litre turbo-diesel powertrain to consumers much before the statutory deadline.”

Jeep Compass has been a consistent seller for the brand even amidst the slowing auto industry in India.While the FCA owned American brand has a couple of cars in its lineup, but this SUV has been able to garner majority of sales.The average monthly sales of Compass has been around 800 units per month.

Currently, the SUV is offered in a total of 6 variants – Sport, Sport Plus, Longitude, Limited, Limited Plus and off roading Trailhawk trim.Compass is offered in variety of monotone as well as 4 dual tone exterior colour schemes as well.

Bookings for the BS6 diesel automatic trims are now open across the nation.Jeep Compass rivals the likes of Hyundai Tucson and it will soon be getting a new rival by an all new brand for India, in the form of C5 Aircross which will be introduced by the French carmakers, Citroen.
